Street price in NY is whatever you can get it, DUH! LOL I had a QP in my hands and the person I was with could of got it for 800! Having said that, isn't there a cut that isn't the real clone cut out there? I mean it's good, don't get me wrong. Tasty with a hashy/piney/lemony/touch of fruit taste (with a hint of something from Mr Nice I bet!). I'm high as fuck but for some reason I was expecting a much more "WOW" moment like trying real Thai/Buddha. But like I said to someone it's definitely not your average hybrid high which is nice. But I would really like to buy something from a Cali. infirmary or a pinch from captainmorgan's stash before I agree it's a bit too hyped.

:lol: even the one which has a purple coloured light in the thumbnail says that it uses a CXB3070

Edit:But they have an optional option for different chip sets so maybe the thumbnail is just for the formfactor.
Still I don't trust them

Edit2:Their shop has a lot of genuine Cree leds and other brands/meanwell too.
Beginning to think they may actually be legit, and they have trade assurance so they actually have to supply with Cree or they'll have to refund.

They aren't actually cheap though.
Quite a bit more expensive per watt than your mothership light

Shan Zhai is getting a lot more sophisticated. They're starting to mimic at least some of the components of the products they're copying. It's weird, because with mountain bikes, high quality carbon fiber frames can be had super cheap. So it wouldn't be surprising to find high quality knock-offs of LEDs.

They seem to make many models or versions including waterproof. They also have blurple grow lights. They claim 190 Lm per watt but the individual adds say 130 to 160. They claim the same on all their lights, even with bridgelux diodes. At first blush they seem to have products that will stir some interest. Beyond that, their ads seem so much like many Chinese LED products. They seem to have the capital to put out some innovative products. Bet we hear more about them.

Looks like Luminus is making some bold claims.

Yeah it looks like a generic led box with 6 cobs in it. This design has been around forever, no one is copying anyone lol. People all thinking an aluminum rectangle with channels in the sides is their "design" lol. The only dofference in design I've seen in any of these panels is the angled corners vs square. It's all the same bs though.


Tasty has housing that looks different from the rest of these new cob companies. the rest are all, more or less, the same. I love seeing the arguments over how these guys are all copying each other though lol. They're just generic boxes. None of them are creative or different with the exception of tasty as far as I've seen.
Oh yeah, and a51s w90s are pretty sweet too

Lol yeah its a pretty common design. I get updates by email with new light sets and that one looked familiar, most others looking generic.

You're right about case shapes being limited, as they only serve a limited purpose unless otherwise designed but every commercial fixture, whether using the same components or not, is unique. Take the fan holes, vent holes, and light hole configuration for the Mothership, all custom and designed by me.

Every designer puts their own input into their own work and their efforts can be seen through their accomplishments.

And the reason Tastyled has unique looking fixtures is because they're built by hand by its owner. I've been down that route before but when demand rises and people are asking for 1000W HID replacements, you're forced to either change your product or let some else fill that void. My 2 cents for the day.

Yeah that was my point with tasty. The thing is the lower profile these lights can be the better, so it only gives you so many options in the actual physical design of the unit because you have to fit all the parts inside.

I just think the arguments over these box panels being copied from other box panels is silly. You can talk about configuration of the parts and that could be unique. But as far as the panels themselves, with the exception of a51 and tasty, they're not. They're all being bought from the same Chinese distributors probably as well lol.

As long as you're putting out quality lights, people will buy them.

I work with real designers and know a few of architects that would be insulted by the fact that these arguments even exist at all lol. Custom configuration does make your fixtures unique though, which is cool. Especially if those design customizations have a functional aspect to them lol.
