Chantix

Anybody ever try it? Or know someone who's tried it? It kinda scares the bejeezuz out of me but continueing to smoke scares me just a little bit more. I'm really sick right now and for the first time in my life feel as though cigarettes are actually killing me. I've tried cold turkey a couple times but usually don't even make it 24 hours. I'm weak like that. Any input?

Didn't work for me, only thing that remotely had an effect was nico-gum. Cut the ciggies in half, then my Dr. said you are only fooling yourself. I asked why, he said cuz you still get the nicotine and potential of heart attack, I said I'm more worried about lung cancer so I switched docs

Chantix worked for 2 people I work with. They both quit and have stayed quit for years, and they said their experience with Chantix made it much easier on them than cold turkey. And our insurance paid for their Chantix.

They both also joined an online "Quit Group", kinda like AA, where they signed in every day and made a promise to quit just for that day. And the group kinda got to know one another in the forums, and shared their difficulties and past failures, and that helped them stay committed.

Good luck.

My brother in law used it successfully but he too warned of the vivid dreams but he said his were definitely more night terrors. I've been good for the past 10 years but I had developed a slight case of depression around the age of 20 that could be summed up as the "what am I doing in life" phase. A little worried Chantix might boost that again.

keep an eye on that, but give it a try. I think the effect is worth the risk. They start you at a quarter dose for a while. You taper up.

I am unaware of any effect on my mood.

If you have depression, then try Zyban (generic Bupropion). It's an anti-depressant that also helps many people quit smoking. And it doesn't have sexual side effects.

I don't have depression. I'm pretty happy with my place in life now. I'm just always worried with taking pharmies that they fuck with your chemical balance and rewire you. They gave me something for anxiety but I filled it and never touched it.

My wife and I both took it for 2 weeks and quit. I agree with the vivid dreams. Very intense sometimes. Kinda weird....we both woke up...and just didn't wanna smoke anymore. It was pretty awesome actually. If we even tried to hit a cig after that it tasted disgusting and made you not want it...everything has its pros and cons I suppose

I tried Well Brutrin too (same shit); that mentally affected me, I was flat. People at work started asking what was wrong because I didn't react to anything. Shit that would have pissed me off a month before I didn't even notice. I stopped that too

My mom takes that I'm pretty sure. Always funny when the side effects of an anti-depressant lists : May infact make you even more fucking depressed and want to end it all.
