What time of Day or Night do you cut down your plants?

Hi RIU,
So I have always taken my plants at my convenience, usually at noon which is about halfway thru my flowering tents light cycle.

I read a thread that said the smoke would be smoother if the plant was chopped before lights on.
I tried it, 3 plants in a row, the buds are very smooth smoke, smoother than my normal cured weed.

I have always gotten solid nug, but these last 3 taken at night turned fluffy.

The weed is still the same quality but it's so light that it takes up twice the space as my normal buds.

I am going to harvest another plant in a few days and I am going to take it at noon and see if my buds stay tight and if the bud is more harsh.

I hang my plants whole for 2 days at 79 degrees and 55 RH.
I remove fan leaves and seperate the branches from the main stalk
and put all of the branches in a Standard brown paper bag.
The bag is folded tightly and clipped closed for 3 days.
Then I trim buds and seperate from stems and put the buds in jars for final cure.
Jars get burped for 4-6 hours a day for a week.
Finally I seal the jar for a week before weighing.
I usually like to let my weed sit at least a month before I smoke it, it seems to mellow over time.

Anyone else cut down plants at night?
Do you think it makes the bud smoother?
What about your bud density?

I am using a 600 watt HPS to flower.

Thanks for replies.
Bless,
DZ

Dog I cant imagine the time of day having any kind of noticeable effect but I'm sure there are those out there that would dispute that.
The way that your drying ? Have you ever tried just letting them hang until they feel right to trim and go directly into cure jars ?
For me I always do it the same way, depending on the time of year but its usually 6-8 days hanging upside down and the they are just right to trim and jar up
Leaving out that step you have with the paper bag.
I know you know too that strain will have influence as well.

Iv'e actually chopped some down ( 2 days in dark ) No issues .

Some " believe " it enhances Trich production but haven't seen this as a valid statement. However , leaving plants in darkness allows stored starches and sugars to make their way back down to the root system .

This is why , i do the darkness routine. It allows me to harvest plants anytime and allow more plants to be staged in the dark for a chop in a few days.
THIS IS HOW i get the proper rotation of ready to harvest plants. I just keep moving harvest ready plants into the dark and pull after NO LESS than 24 hours later.

Everybody has got a " Light Room " but not a " Dark Room "
Besides when they are " jarred " they are put in darkness anyways.

Kind of simple ... Right ? bongsmilie

It effects smell and burn. Starches are in the roots at night. Terpenes are at thier highest right before lights on. Terpenes are quickly evaporated from light and heat. Open your room at night right before lights on. They stink worse.

I cut em when it easiest for me. A day early, a day late, day or night warm or cold. Do what fits you. Every body does their own thing. Leave it in the dark for 48hrs, cut it with the lights on, flush it the last two weeks, add some sweet shit or molasses, flush it with Fiji water chilled to 45 degrees, you'll die of old age trying to figure it out. I wont say ones right one wrong, but if theres a difference it would be so minor it wouldnt be worth any extra effort. I think if I gave you 5 samples all grown, dried, and cured the same the only difference being the time they were cut. I would bet my left nut you wouldn't know. Its a simple plant no need to over complicate it, unless you're not busy. That's my opinion I could be wrong.

No no no....You guys have it all wrong, you need to harvest on a new moon cycle, just after the ebb tide, on a high activity day of the solunar tables. Dance naked around the plant for 10 minutes then cut that bitch. In my case I tried the dance naked thing and the plant just fell over and died :o. It was the smoothest one though, think I scared the starch out of it lol.

I don't know if it makes a difference . I usually turn the lights off on the morning of harvest day and start chopping and trimming along with my morning coffee . Because I work day shift , harvest is always done on a Saturday morning . Just the way I have always done it . For those newbies just getting started , a proper harvest is a lot more work than you think . I try to do a good tight manicure and then hang the branches for 5 to 7 days . then into glass jars and a dark cabinet until needed . I do burp the jars daily for the first week . Some jars cure for 2 to 8 months . Just depends when more is needed . lol , easy to get too many jars in stock and need to take a short break between crops .

Short break between crops!!!! Fuck I wish lol. The only time I get a break is after the outdoor grow lol. I need to smoke less I guess :(.
