How can I maximize my yield at 600watts?

I feel like though my potency is increasing, my yields should be higher. And im sure thats my fault, i'd like some assistance correcting my mistakes. My last yield I raked in ~5 ounces spread across 9 plants. I probably have too many plants for 600 watts. I am also running a medium sized adjust-a-wing hood. What can I do to increase my yield?

I know I should get dialed in with a new hood, but im not sure how to go about it. I was thinking maybe buying a blockbuster and removing the glass? My most successful grow has been in peatmoss so i'll be sticking to that for now. but please if anyone has any advice on the situation i'd love to hear it.

LST increases yields for sure. You should be getting two zips per plant, but its tough under one light.
Have you considered coco? I'm trying it for the first time and the growth has been more robust than I expected!

Yikes only 5 oz. For like $50 you could just make a 5 gal dwc bucket, pvc scrog net and yeild atleast a pound with only a 1 month veg with 1 plant. I'm only saying that cuz thats what i do with 600w lol there's plenty of ways to do it.

Like chunky said, train your plant. Lst, supercrop, scrog, sog. Basically whatever you like best for your setup to acquire a nice even canopy. With all the cola's at the same height from the light they will produce the best.

I've just switched from soil to peat moss (peat I've read is similar to coco) and my potency looks like its finally getting where I'd like it. But I will try coco at some point. I do supercrop. I also cut 2 to 4 of the lowest branches because its just wasted energy into useless buds. I'm not sure what a zip is, but the dwc sounds like hydro, and that's a bit complicated for where I'm at.

Zip = 1 oz
Look familiar?

600w hps adjust a wing + various other lights I've collected over the years.
5 plants right under the light in 5 gal cloth pots. They were small when i started them & now they're half done. Should get at least 2 zips per plant.
Medium is mostly promix hp with a little fox farm ocean forest.

I just finished my 600 watt grow 1st time also I SCROGD had 4 plants in a small DWC tub and yielded a little over 1/2 a pound.
My problem is I had fluffy nugs any tips to dense it up

Best advice i can give guys to maximize yield under a six hundred is to fill the space in veg. More plants or longer veg. One of the two. Fill the light footprint to the point where your scared its too full, and then flower. You should get a lb off of a six hundred in dwc and just under that with soiless like coco or peat. And to the guy who made fluffy dwc, try a different strain. Some strains dont like dwc at all.

Alienwidow's advice is solid.
Here's my take.
Also if you're gonna go scrog then try to use clones from a mom that you know is a heavy producer. If you're going from seed then you could have various phenos under your screen. One might stretch more than others etc. If it's something you've worked with before then you'll know what to expect from the clones.
Do a big pheno hunt. Run a fast SOG grow. Pack em in there as much as you can. Pick your winner from there. Either take clones beforehand and keep em going through flower or pick out your best 3 and do your best to reveg them. If your favorite absolutely refuses to reveg then you'll at least have a backup plant or 2.
I ended up getting one hell of a heavy producing critical/sensi star girl doing just that. Nice potency on her as well. The funny thing is she took a good 10+ days longer to finish up than her sisters. But blew them all away so much that it makes it worth it. And she'll produce a pound easy with one plant in a 5 gallon spinout pot under a 3x3 with regular promix, cheap nutes, and a 600 watter with a batwing. No special set up or tent. No co2. Just smacked into an unused walk in closet. Door opens at lights on. Gets closed 5 minues prior to lights off.
So do a pheno hunt beforehand. You'll thank yourself when you find your keeper. Then when you blow it away under a net you'll be trimming til your eyes are crossed and never wanna do it again.

You should be able to grow 12 plants easily with this light and you should be yielding much more I think the factor was more of a light issue could be strain, environment, grow medium, etc

I am scared that my footprint is too full. I've got 9 plants in 7 gallon fabric pots.about 3.5ft x 3.5ft until I spread them out in flower to 5x5. I read that if you have adjustawing maybe a good portion of my footrprint is wasted on the wall? I was thinking about trying a blockbuster or parabolic.

I could probably grow 3 more. But im somewhat maxing out my footprint at the moment. I feel like putting in more would just screw whichever plants were at the ends of my square. Honestly this might sound kind of retarded, but I really couldn't see what im doing wrong environment wise. These plants are loving my yield, im using an adjust-a-wing medium hood with a 600w hortilux hps bulb. The high usually stays around 77f when its not in a scorching summer. I know 100% that it can't be the strain. The reason I know this is because I get my clones from the most badass phenos available. I have a mentor, he is trying to do what he can to help me. He sells me the clones. He brings me what his clones have grown, and it is by far the best dank i've ever seen. All his strains are high yielding and potent as hell. He gets them all from a highly reputable place, and from nearby expos. The guy creates and entire living on these clones so I definitely trust it.

I'll take a few the next time I go upstairs. Though I normally hesitate to post pictures, I do need help and descriptions only go so far.

I have achieved better than a lb on 6 plants under a 600 in promix HP by simply topping the main and LSTing the whole plant parallel to the ground.

No, you don't need 12 plants in that space.
topping is just when you cut the top in the small veg state to make 2 tops right?

How long are you veg'ing for in those 7 gal fabric pots ?
Depends on how long I waited to move them from their solo cups. Generally speaking if no setbacks happened about 5-6 weeks.

Also, to all those suggesting SoG, the reason I don't do that is because i pay per clone, and if i don't see big return, it would've been a lot of wasted dough.

These were your plants at the point of harvest? I see a couple decent colas, but overall kind of a stretchy mess. They also look like they have a ways to go.

Your light, in the pic seems plenty close, but light mgmt seems to be awry. Too stretchy. I get my lb+ with a cheap ass open wing type. I keep it between 18"-24".

Are all these plants the same strain? The topping I mentioned is not meticulous, but the simple lopping off the top node or two of the main. They are about 16" when I do it. You have other issues though. No reason you should not get over an oz per plant straight up.
Has your mentor seen your grow? What's he say?
