Ok I fuked up

well I had 2 seedlings that looked like shot and I was running low on soil. Didn't think they would make it in the first place so I repotted them in the same 5 gallon bucket. Well I went out of town for 3 weeks and low and behold the damn things grew like wild fire now I need to separate them but worried the root balls have intertwined they are about a foot and a half tall any advice on separating them? Picture is of them a week after I left my buddy had no idea what to do other than water.

Yep ! Hopefully one is a male so when you chop it out at soil level it won't hurts your little feeling to bad. Lol .

I can tell one is female already has preflower and it's the smaller one of the 2 other is about 8 in taller with no sex signs

On a serious note tho you could try dissolving the whole root ball in a bucket of water and see if you can keep the cutting down to a minimum.

I might try that I've only got 4 girls growing the other two that are separated are huge about 3 foot tall and 2 foot wide one with preflower everywhere other still veg. Chemdawg is the strain

Hey man, I did the exact same thing not too long ago. I had 3 bag seeds that germinated. Threw all 3 in a pot about that size. It was actually surprisingly easy to get them apart. A few of the roots may have been damaged, but as long as you're gentle, i'd think you shouldn't have a huge problem.
I separated the 3 gentle and they kinda just fell apart. Not sure if i just got lucky, or what, but that's been my experience with it.

2 out of the 3 survived and the 1 that didn't was garbage to begin with. Harvested the Indica plant and am still flowering the Sativa. Here's pics to prove how similar, lol.

I would stick it in the ground the way it is,nothing wrong with a double header look like one plant in a month u might be picking one half week or 2 earlier than other not a bad thing

I second what thumper said. Assuming both are female, plant as is in a big ass 'depression in the earth' ('plant in a big ass hole' just sounds wrong). Any time you spend trying to separate them runs the risk of stunting both and possibly losing them.

Should I pull them out of bucket or just cut a bunch of big holes in the side of the bucket and bury it in the ground?

Definitely remove the old bucket when you re-plant.

Ok what's the best method of doing that damn things are pretty heavy and don't have anyone to help me

Do it when the soil has dried out a bit (but not too dry), it will be lighter with less water. Put it on its side and roll it around to loosen the dirt from the wall of the bucket, then tilt it and the plant should slide right out. You can set it on it's side on a chair or table edge if you need room to slide.

If that's still too heavy, here's a rather small lady showing how to remove a young tree from a pot using a box cutter -

That bucket didnt look to have much soil in the bottom of it, maybe 2 gallons at best. It cant be very heavy.

Lol thanks guys I'll let them dry one more day and try to work them out the bucket I'd never get the thing cut with a box cutter maybe a jog saw but probably damage the girls with that crazy thing. I'll take pictures and update when I do it

And I'll revise its not real heavy but kinda awkward to handle 2 big plants and work out of bucket at same time. First time grower so real stressed out about hurting them

Obviously be sure to not just dump the pot and squish your plant. Hold one hand covering the dirt at the base of the plant with the stalks between your fingers, like you would transplanting any other plant. You can pull the plants by their stalks and you should slide them and the dirt easily out of the bucket.
