Going commercial

Loving my T2-1400! Been using it alongside 250w hps in a 2x2 tent from the very beginning of 12/12 light cycle. The combo is so perfect that I don't foresee any need for an upgrade. Pulling 350w of flower tent lighting as measured from the wall.. 575 total watts from everything - both veg & flower tents, lights, centri fans, hydro shit, electronics.. the whole shebang... 575w total draw!!
 
Ditch the 250 and get t1 2100 w/reflector, boom boom on goes the light! Maybe even a t2. You may not realize it now, but the anemic spectrum of the hps is restricting the potential of your grow. I learned this first hand! I've been led only for over a year and not looking in the rear view mirror. None of my LEDs are as powerful as Tasty's either.
 
Cobs were delayed for a week so stock was running low, but I use the time well. Templates have been remade and jigs are in the works. Soon I will be able to pump out enclosures.

The last of the .032 sheet aluminum has been used. .04 from here on out.

The T2-2100 has been updated with 72v cobs and HLG-120H-C1050B. Will knock a couple watts from the input.

T4-2100s will be posted at some point today for the first time.

More changes in the works.
 
Not bad if you have the tools you need. The pre-drilled pin fin sinks have simplified DIY along with wago 222 and Chip-lok holders.
 
It just depends on what components you use. If you're drilling and tapping a drill press and variable speed hand drill with torque adjustment will be useful.
 
Just a ball park build time? I'm no electronics whiz but I'm confident I can put a light together. Do you need to solder tiny little things onto a board? If the answer is no..good to go.

Soldering is not required most of the time. WAGO connectors make wiring simple. Someone here even makes Junction boxes.

If you can wire a Christmas tree none of the wiring will be a challenge.

Pick a COB and driver combo from the list of 'approved' combinations that many have tried and found true.

It's that simple. What you get when you buy the same combinations of parts from Tasty LED or another reputable builder is expert assembly, attention to detail and a warranty. That's well worth the additional cost if you aren't comfortable with DIY or just don't have the time.

To your last point; COB LED runs cooler, produces more bud per watt with higher quality. Even if it didn't save a dime in electricity it's worth it.

I'm also testing the Revolution Micro DE HPS fixture and while it's a nice light, it and all other HID lighting options are very simply outclassed by COB LED.
