Help deciding on leds

i hope no one tears me a new one on this, as there are so many brands and I'm not to familiar with growing with LEDs. So any help is greatly appreciated.

So I plan on getting a 10x10 set up going. Was thinking of going the LED route. Now from what I've read, it's measured in wattage as opposed to lumens like I have previously with HPS. I'm curious to see what types, brands, and wattages you guys would likely recommend? If it's any help as to what I'm looking for, 5000 lumens per sq.ft.
Thanks guys

If you're going to do it right it's gonna cost ~ $3500. Contact Amare Technologies about either Pro3/4 or ...?

Ive also been looking into leds for my next run. To get anywhere close to matching hid lighting in that big of a space, your best be would probably be cob led. If your looking to buy one of the brand name pre-built blurple panels for that big of a space effectively, your probably looking at spending well over $3k as mentioned above. Im no expert, but from what others have been telling me, in a big space like yours, the cost just isn't economical yet. Ive been looking into these cob cree kits from Timber.

Check out "Growmau5" on youtube. Very informative!! I think he's active on this forum as well.

If money isn't an issue you cannot go wrong with the KIND LEDS. Otherwise if you have the time I seen some pretty nice DIY setups. If you're in a very cold area I would just stick with HPS. Where I live during winter months I benefit from the HPS heat.

Never heard of cob before, interesting!
Was looking around (don't want/have time) to build it myself. I was looking around and came across these. Would 2 of these suffice??

Thanks to all btw!
i do not recommend those.... bad lights.... look into Timber grow lights, PLC grow lights, area 51 LED, northern grow lights, and i think tasty LED might be a good one too.

@ÉsÇ420PoT™ that light from Amazon looks like a joke. I guarantee you that the light doesn't pull anywhere near 1000 watts, maybe half of that plus it's using old tech. Blurple light

Check out tasty led they have the most spread, the largest light, and the highest wattage for 4 cobs. It will still take about 12 four cob units to cover a ten by ten area, but you will harvest more than you ever did with hid.

The next best would be either Johnson grow lights, pacific light concepts, or heaven bright. they are all long time members here and can give you more of the technical Specs than I can, and possible a discount. They are rahz, greengenes, Stephenj37826, and I can't remember who owns king bright. But they are all very good and helpful people.

On the cheap side check out Area 51 or gogreenled although I would say either of those two would be a waste of money.

Bare minimum you'll be paying for that size area is 3to4 thousand dollars and that's if you go with the cheap quality lights. If you go with high quality it will cost more like 5 to 6 thousand unless you go dig all the wAy than you can get away with way cheaper but still spendy

Any 3-5w led companies are junk or close to hid efficiency which is pointless. Only exceptions I know of are CLW and BML/Fluence, because they're using Osram LEDs.

Cobs are the way to go. I have 4 of timbers 200w diy cob kit and its producing 800ppfd over 5'x5' space which is way more than a 1000watt hid light. image.jpeg

Dude, please. You don't know what the f you saying. Kind is uber expensive crap
How would you know? Have you ever used the kinds? Yeah they are uber expensive but work uber great. You sound like another one of them typical light wallet stoners. Jealous of the ones who can afford them.

How are those COBs on durability? I've looked at them a while back and thought of trying them. I know some brands like Apollo were having issues with them dying out after months of use. Thinking of trying a reputable brand out sometime.

There's a company in Japan that makes very nice 3watt diodes called nichia as well.

Kind is epic crap..

@Big smo
Says another without evidence.

The price is the only crap part. https://www.kindledgrowlights.com/products/k5-xl1000 I went with a couple of these. Like all older LEDs they lack coverage compared to a HPS. Otherwise it performs great. I really like the customization. I'll compare one to a COB as soon as I decide which brand to go with. Also would even like to test out a plasma light. I really don't care about the price as long as they perform well and last a long time.
