Especially when the vast majority of people mistakenly put to death by the "justice" system are black, eh?That's mighty white of you to say.

Well said.I really struggle with this one. My head and heart say very different things. I don't believe in the death penalty, it doesn't reduce crime and the risk of a wrongful conviction is just too great. Unfortunately, people do lie about being raped for a multitude of reasons. I also think that there are, occasionally, situations where someone might commit rape but not actually be an evil nonce that deserves to be strung up. However, I have been raped and could quite happily string him up by his bollocks. If anyone ever touched my children then I would do them severe harm given the chance. I don't believe paedophiles can be rehabilitated, it costs us a fortune to try, and then again monitoring them for the rest of their lives once they're released. I believe society would be better off just doing away with them, putting them down like a rabid animal because they can't change what they're sexually attracted to anymore than anyone else can. But am I in any position to judge who is fit to live? I don't think I am.
First of all, I'm sorry that you had to experience what you've experienced. No one should have to experience that. I will not claim to understand what you've gone (or continue to go) through. I take issue, however, with your above, highlighted statement. If, indeed, they can't change what they're sexually attracted to, wouldn't that imply some sort of mental deficiency or even handicap? And I know that you're not advocating for the death of the mentally handicapped (Unlike say Bill Clinton in 1992).I believe society would be better off just doing away with them, putting them down like a rabid animal because they can't change what they're sexually attracted to anymore than anyone else can.
I'm not advocating the death of anyone really, like I say, I'm not in a position to and I'm divided over the whole thing, but no, I don't think so. I'm attracted to men, and occasionally, women too. It's not a handicap, just what turns me on. Heterosexuals are attracted to the opposite sex, homosexuals to the same sex, paedophiles to children. I see it as their sexual orientation, not an illness or deficiency that can be cured. Maybe, as with everything else, there are exceptions. Maybe I'm over-simplifying but that's just how I see it.First of all, I'm sorry that you had to experience what you've experienced. No one should have to experience that. I dig, and I'm not here trying to accuse you of anything. My point is that if they truly can not help what they are attracted to, then maybe there is something to that and I don't believe to someone should die for something that they can truly can't control. I absolutely believe that they should be punished, however, because wrong is wrong. Maybe I just do see the benefit of killing someone simply for revenge.I'm not advocating the death of anyone really, like I say, I'm not in a position to and I'm divided over the whole thing, but no, I don't think so. I don't know though. I can't help who I'm attracted to, but I can choose whether to act on it. I could meet the fittest bloke I've ever seen tomorrow, I could be all hot and bothered just looking at him, but I have a fella so to act on that attraction would be wrong and I would choose not to, I am in control of my behaviour. And that choice is the issue. I think it's pitiable to be attracted to children, something has to be wrong there, but once they've made a decision to act on it I lose all sympathy.I dig, and I'm not here trying to accuse you of anything. I completely understand why you'd feel that way, because I basically feel the same way. I guess I just don't see the point in killing them. The death penalty is nothing more than a revenge killing to appease the masses. It does absolutely nothing to dissuade crime.I don't know though. And that is what I always come back to. Do I want to live in a society that thinks it's ok to kill people to make other people feel better, since the death penalty is proven to serve no other purpose? Where do you draw the line and who is worthy of making that decision about another human being?I completely understand why you'd feel that way, because I basically feel the same way. You seem to think it's a point in your favor that the places with the most violent crime is also the place with the most people on death row. Nice spin on that fact.Again, you ignore the simple fact that where executions are most common, murder rates are the highest. Also, international statistics do not support you. If you were correct, the more people a country executes the lower its crime rates should be. That is not the case. As I have pointed out. Over and over. And over.
But by all means, keep ignoring the plethora of information in front of you. You probably know better than 88% of criminologists.
"That study found that over 88 per cent of the criminologists did not believe the death penalty deterred murderers."

We could throw in death for jaywalking and get that ended real quick too!!!!So you are saying lets feed a house the disgusting fucks who takes joy in violating the innocent?
If people where to see rape dealt with swiftly by a death penalty they might just think twice.
And you seem to ignore the fact that when states end the death penalty their murder rates drop. Nice convenient ignorance. You seem to think it's a point in your favor that the places with the most violent crime is also the place with the most people on death row. Nice spin on that fact.
the persecution of white people continues.Obama could just drone you from the air rather than issuing you a ticket!!!!
You act like they never had the death penalty. And you seem to ignore the fact that when states end the death penalty their murder rates drop. Nice convenient ignorance.
No, I act like when they had the death penalty, the murder rates were higher than after they abolished it. Because those are the facts. For the murder rate to go down after they get rid of the death penalty, they have to have first had the death penalty, and then gotten rid of it. What about this is hard for you to understand? You act like they never had the death penalty.
The ridiculous thing is this implies that if you start killing rapist the rates of rapist will clime. The country was still forming into a more civilized country when these studies where taken place and after that the death penalty was barely even used enough to have any true meaning behind the statistics. No, I act like when they had the death penalty, the murder rates were higher than after they abolished it. Huh? Which country? Did you even read the stats they're talking about??The ridiculous thing is this implies that if you start killing rapist the rates of rapist will clime.
