growers will be obsolete soon

that is really funny! there is an anti-human element to some technology. Growing food is a fundamental human activity, why would one try to replace it? It's like designing a robot to have sex for you.

That video made me smile. Also pretty silly. Seeds and watering is not the hard or time consumimg part of growing. An automated drip system is also less wasteful and healthier than splash here's your water.

You know what sucks outside? Mites, aphids, leaf miners, ten kinds of shit ending in "wilt" or "blight". And rats/raccoons/opossums...I may live in an urban area. Oh and staking and training, good luck robogardener!

And keeping up with harvesting. I just pickled a zucchini the size of my head, no idea where that was hiding. Rip Van Winkle me and wake me up when robots can pick my bush beans before they turn into giant inedible chew toys. Sex robots should be pretty awesome by then too.

+100
Reminds me of the stupid self driving cars, trucks and buses they say are coming. Humans make millions of decisions in a minute. Car driving has millions of variables and most humans do a pretty amazing job keeping it all figured out. Good luck to the robot check leaves for mites and aphids.

Some Auto companies have radar assisted driving and parking. The future is inevitable. It's going to be automated in the next 10 yrs. It's already happening now.

Steam engines
Coal
Diesel
GAS
Gas/electric hybrids
Electric

The progression of life and it's inventions.

Electric cars are 100+ years old.

The biggest risk for growers who are growing for money is big corporations if legalization hits more and more states. Corporate pot growing. the question is will corporate growers end up growing good weed. The people I have talked to said some of the big grows are not that good. Other people say much of the stuff sold at dispensaries is not very good.

although I completely agree, because this is essentially what I say....but i did listen to some random old school Dutch farmer a week ago or so, laying out his argument for like $2 a kilo and still making profit. He was describing early 80's conditions in Holland too..............undoubtedly that price isn't static today....[duh]

how many microbreweries and mom/pop brewers are there
how many small time heirloom/ open pollinated Seed farmers

Still lots.
Commercial growing is the equivalent of huge buds that really don't get you high imho. Looks good on the outside, but the real product is shit.

[Not saying big buds aren't always stank, just saying I know the random head once a year it seems, "check out my huge buds" and they looked nice and had no heady, ....]
