Question about growing mediums

Hey guys, I just ordered an autoflowering plant and I am going to be using mg.
I can't afford better soil so I have to use mg.
I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out if I should use perlite or not.

I think I should definately use perlite but what should the ratio be. I thought mixing 3 cups of soil to 1 cup of soil.
So like a 3 to 1 ratio.
Or would it be better for drainage if I used 2 parts soil and 1 part perlite.

Hey don't use MG please....pick up some kellogs patio plus for $6 a bag. Way cheaper them mg. They even sell it at walmart. That's what I use. And do a 2:1 mix with perlite. I got my perlite from home depth to for $18 a bag and got half off since it had holes in the bag....you might think the big bags are high but perlite goes a long way....let's say you had a budget for $15. 1 bag of kellogg's plus and 1-2 bags of the mg perlite...

For aut you want a really light soil. The roots are very weak and thin

The problem with most mg soil it the the little time release balls they put it there soil. This makes it very hot....and the bags cost $10. the kellogs has nice stuff in it...the only problem I had was bad drainage which was from not adding perlite. But zero burns....for the cheaper soils I would run 2:1....they cheap out on perlite. If you do run mg I would use 50/50 to try to offset the hottest. Just have to water more

I understand what you mean and if this was my first time growing I probably would get the kellogs.
The thing is, I grew well over 15 plants and all of them were with miracle gro and I became the king of growing in my area with a cheap bag of soil and some perlite.
Thank you for your reply and input it's greatly appreciated.

Ya I am definately getting perlite with a 2 to 1 ratio. I think half and half is too much. Thanks for your reply.

Thank you very much I appreciate that. How do you like to germinate your seeds. I am using the wet paper towel method and their not popping for me. I think I used to germinate them by putting the seeds into a cup of water.

. I used to do this have a
Paper towel folded several times so it's thick .....I then wet the paper towel put my seeds in it fold it over obviously .....stick it in a zip lock bag and start checking for popped seeds after 24 hours .............but honestly me personally now I just plant my seeds into medium and keep it moist with a spray bottle and watch em grow ...........I use a ff light warrior .....but this year popped ove a dozen in Kellogg because I did some early ......good luck
