First ever clones not doing so good after 10 days, pic

I planted these clones 10 days ago and the last 5 days they have really went downhill to the point of looking very close to death today (pic). My outdoor plant is very healthy, cut all 5 clones from lower brances, immediately placed stems in a solo cup of water.

I scraped about 3/4" of the outer skim of the stem with a razor blade, one slide at the bottom of the stem, I dipped them in rotting powder (generic stuff from home depot Roots brand) and put them an inch or so deep into my growing medium which is coco coir and perlite, in solo cups with good drainage. Before I put the clones in the medium I gave it a good water until draining happened.

The first few days they stayed looking alright but not great, and they have just gone downhill since. I have them in a 18X18X20" high flat white painted cabinet with 1 23w 6500k cfl about 10" away. I tried a few days with and without the humidity dome, temps 75-85, and nothing seems to perk them up. The last day I had them on the window ledge there in in-direct sunlight but it hasnt helped either. Only waterred with 6.0 phd tap water so far

Any saving them?

I'm a newbie but after you planted, did u let them soak up all the water. I do it the same way, but use clear cups & ziplock bags for humidity. Mist daily & when I see roots I'm on my way. Good luck!

you cant put unrooted clones in sunlight, take some more cuts, put them in a humidity dome, keep temps around 70 be patient and dont mess with them at all, no need to mist them
to give them a better chance, water the coco with liquid seaweed or rhyzotonic when you put the clones into the coco, then leave them

@Morriston55

Do everything you did again up to the scraping part. This time use a rockwoll or jiffy cube. Have it moist not soaking, put it in the dome. It just needs 16hrs of light. 10days you should have roots.

I dont think Im overwatering as I literally havent added water to the coco coir once in the 10 days, it never fully dried up, although today it is starting to lighten up on the surface anyways, a more light brown instead of dark brown coco.

They werent placed in the direct sunlight, it was an overcast day yesterday, they are back in the cabinet right now 18/6 with the cfl bulb

We dont have any rockwool cubes here in canada unfortunately, would be atleast a week before I could even get those shipped to me

I will be cutting my own in a couple days. I clone 12 cuttings every 3.5 months. Assuming the next 12 are a success, I will have not lost one in over 2 years. I do it with peat (Promix) and spring water. Clear cups work, but depending how long before you transplant, opaque cups should be used as you don't want the roots greening. I actually do use clear so root discovery is easy and to check dryness, but I slide them into opaque ones. I only dome to battle initial droop if there is any. They get planted in thoroughly watered and drained peat and that is usually good fo 2-3 days at which point I will start misting as needed. Yours at least "look" like they need that couple days of drying out. I used a soil once that never seemed to dry. I too would dome based on your droopyness. Those are savable. As mentioned, patience. I also like things in the high 70s. Warmth is more important than light until there actually are roots.

Thanks for the advice, they have been close to 80 almost the entire time, i will put the dome back on. Being as im at 10 days already, id hope to see some happy plants very shortly or i may have to start over.

Dont want to cut the crap out of mom outside though

I dont think they will have roots based on how there looking?
I use a bubble cloner, when I have roots I put them in coco in a solo cup, within 2 days they look about like yours, when the coco is dry again they are standing back up, you could have roots

Wouldnt mess anything up to move some coco to chrck for roots or just leave them be til the co co is dry? Its the yellowing and shrivelled lower leaves that make me believe there not great

I never had any luck cloning until I got a cheap DWC cloner. with just plain tap water. no rooting compound or nutes I had root on 3 out of 4 cuttings in 10 days. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261296548224?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT they would be simple to make but so far it's the only thing that has worked for me

Usually mine are showing roots in < 14 days but there were a couple that took longer...once was > 30 days and then they exploded. Patience. And you have clear cups...no need to break one out to see.

clones take up water from the leaves until roots form.. you may need to mist them with a spray bottle of water.... ususally what i do is create a small greenhouse by covering the clones with plastic wrap and poke a couple small holes in there for air. as many have said on your thread abotu keeping the humidity up
