Splint? Cast? Expert advice please

So I topped one of my girls to close to the nodes. And now that's it's 30+" tall and in flower it's starting to crack. seems like it's gotten worse the past few days and I'm starting to worry. I'm thinking about with getting a tomato cage and hopefully that'll help. Anyone ever dealt with this?

A tomato cage will work. Itl heal itself if it doesn't get worse, u could tape it too no biggee. Your good man!

Don't fret good grower. It happens to all of us over the years. Agree with sierra. A tomato cage will help to keep the pressure off the split. But if you want to be careful, I'd make a little splint. I use pieces of bamboo skewers (size depends on the injury or split) and electrical tape. One of the important things to remember is that she still needs to be able to grow in that spot so you have to allow for some flexibility. In fact, she'll create an extra knuckle or callous (don't know the proper name) in the injured area. If you were to, say, wrap her several times around, tightly with thin wire or fishing line, it can result in damaging or killing the plant. You know, Just like tree girdling.

Oh, hair bands the stretchy bands to tie up a ponytail work great too!!

When I do crack a stem or injure a plant in anyway, (knock it over, catch a branch in a door, etc), I find that a nice foliar spray of coconut water and aloe vera juice seems to help them perk up a little quicker. I scrape about 3 tablespoons of aloe from the inside of a leaf, put it in a bowl with 1/2 cup plain, organic coconut water, pulverize with a hand stick blender, strain and add enough water to make a quart. Really cheap if you grow your own aloe.

Yesterday i put a rubber band around it not super tight just enough to hold it in its place. I might take bubble wrap and wrap around the branches and stem then use tape that way if it needs to it can pop the bubble wrap and continue to grow. I've seen it done on tv. Except they had a hole in the ground and ran into a big root from a nearby tree, instead of pouring concrete around the root they taped some bubble wrap around it then poured the concrete. Fricken genius
