I need to slow these down I can't move them for another week. Anyone have any tricks? I can give more info if needed

Think if I bumped the room temps down to 70 and bumped the water down to 60 that would slow them? I think raising the lights is going to make them stretch.

Nice set up and beautiful plants. Did you build that rig yourself. Nice job. Is it ebb and flow? Impressive.

You could disconnect some of the lights or move them up. I think they stretch less if you move the light up under T5/T8s versus an HID.

I think I have seen those T5s on eBay. They are doing a nice job.

Raising the lights won`t make them stretch if your running them 18/6 or 20/4 or 24

If you drop them to 18c or so that`ll slow them down but raising the light will also slow them down

or just take cuttings off them

this is a classic issue. you have too many plants in that space. dwc grows fast and really can't be stopped. nice plants, but just too many. people do this a lot. you have to remember as far as space is concerned, plants can grow larger than you expect.

It's a homemade rdwc kinda like the undercurrent, I built it for about $200 per 8 site. The t5s are cheapie lights from Amazon, seem to work well an haven't had any problems with them in 8 months. I'm gonna try to lower the temps and raise the lights as high as they'll go. They are going under a screen but I haven't finished those systems yet but hopefully will be done in 5 days or as soon as i got time.

My veg room is only a fraction of the size as my flower room. I may be rethinking the plant count but currently trying to run 16 plants under screens in a 32'x14' flower room. Also trying to perpetuate harvest every month. I ran into problems early on with copper cooling coils which i have fixed and the plants have now exploded which were suppose to be on seperate cycles. It's not a bad problem to have but would like to buy myself a little time lol

Well I raised the lights all the way up, turned each fixture to 50% power and lowered the temp as low as I can get it with what I have. I got them down to 71f and got the water down to 61f. It didn't effect them they stretched like champions lol.

All i can suggest is topping them again
I never topped these plants just super cropped. Im trying to get the flower room done sooner then later, hopefully it'll be ready is a few days. Kinda saving topping as a last resort if i know I can't have the room done for a week or so. I should be on schedule to have it done in 3 days

My entire goal is to run with my old faithful se lights and if I can keep the plants short enough under the screen I want to repower the room with de lights, I'm just not sure what de lights I'll be able to run. I need something with a remote ballast and they'll have to be flush mounted to the ceiling. I have a buddy who runs some hydrofarn vented de lights and does pretty well with them averaging around 2.25 pounds per 1000w. It looks like he can get his plants within 2ft of the lense and not burn them at full power. My ceilings in my flower room are only 7ft tall. I'm hoping to keep the screen within 10" of the buckets, if I can that'll give me about 3ft between the screens and lenses for growing and leave me about 2ft of space for the lights.

To combat stretch in veg, I move the light CLOSER, and it works. They reach out for the light, why make it further away?

i always thought plants stretch when the light is weak and far away ?
number one cause is normally due to hot days vs cold nights and Gibberellic

very weak light makes plants spindly and stretched out

the light being too far away can make some shitty plants or slow growth

but they look ok like they have had more than enough light for veg so move the lights up to slow them down growing

If they were going to stretch they would 1st slow down growth for 2 weeks or so

Not the same as when you flip to flower as the plants go a bit nuts at the start of flowering, not the same as if you veg a plant correctly and then reduce the light it`ll just slow its growth normally, mostly due to the cooler temps and such

Don`t know I used GA3 in veg to make them taller or triacontanol to bush them more

I`ve vegged with a hps too to try and get taller plants

So I don`t know what your vegging with or if its down to strain but if anything I have to force my plants to stretch more

I normally don`t get much stretch in flower normally depends on the strain obviously, used to get more when I ran aircon but I was hitting 16c or so at night and 26/32c during the day in that set up

@fabizpwn any reason why your air pump is up high where all the hot air is ? find a place lower down get some cool air into that hydro

The room is small and just tucking it out of the way. my chiller does a good job combating any warm air that might be coming from the pump, water temps are never over 68 degrees unless something breaks. My room has a lot of air movement also, i don't think the air on the ceiling is any warmer then the air on the floor. If I have any issues in the future I may move it.

Cool I guess if the pump fails in some unlucky way it being up high would mean no chance of water leaking out down the airlines

but yeah your roots look lush
