I really like this tread and have been trying to find one that didn't just fade out over two pages : )
I packed up my growing gear after my last harvest which was a mineral grow as I believe mineral fertilizer has it's place and trust me there are a good couple of threads over that side of the fence about DIY mixes from scratch as once you can see the cost savings but more importantly the degree of straight up daylight robbery that takes place which is more evident in the mineral dept due to companies having to label ingredients and % ect as apposed to a general npk figure and the magic mystic ingredients.

I have done many organic runs but in the past only with bottled nutrients which gave good results and since I packed up my gear I have lent it to a friend who has an AC as where I stay the summer days frequently get to above 33-34'c so up to 93f and on a really hot day in peak summer the days can regularly hit 36'c about 96f so you can only pull off about 1 or two grows between autumn and spring and even in spring ac can be required.

Getting to the point lol.... My friend who has borrowed my system doesn't have much xp in cannabis cultivation so I recommended he use a soil mix I have used in the past with some of the banana/papaya/squash flowering mix as a booster. I will get some pics from him a bit later after work.

This side of the world access to main stream products is generally nonexistent and obtaining specific ingredients such as neem meal/ soybean meal can only be obtained in sacks of 20kg + from a farm co-op..... and bat guano rears its head about twice a year before being out of stock.

Some info on this soil. I have been interested in trying to make my own super soil that can replace my use of mineral fertilizers. This mix has been a work in progress for about two years now and well tested by another friend of mine with a large garden and no prying eyes.

Basic Soil Mix currently in use
This is per +- 50L volume and has been composted for at least a month after being loaded with molasses and EM to hasten the process with the exception of the seedling mix which can be used immediately.

Seedling Mix = used in those 3x2 seedling trays.
17L coco peat + 17L perlite + 17L EWC
400g basalt rock dust
200g fine dolomite lime
200g diatomaceous earth

Up Pot Grow Mix = transplanted out of seedling trays/clone pot. We using about a 2.5L pot with this mix and there is no need for additional fertilizer.
20L coco peat + 20L perlite + 10L EWC = Scale as necessary
400g basalt rock dust
200g fine dolomite lime
200g diatomaceous earth
200g kelp meal
200g bone meal\
200g Alf/Alfa meal or organic seedling fertilizer/mulch mix. Talborne Organics Seedling mix 6.1.5

Flowering Mix = this mix is used in a generic 35cm pot that holds about 25L of soil+- .
Same as above grow mix with additional
300g bat guano
200g organic flowering mix - Talborne Organics Flower 3.1.5. This stuff is very cost effective at $5-6 for 2kg of this stuff.

Once the plants have grown large enough in the 2.5L pots they will be transplanted in to the 35cm pot filled with the flower soil mix as apposed to layering it like a super soil and after about two weeks will be flowered.
All the nutrients needed to have a successful crop stress and worry free. In mid - late flower the Banana/Papaya/Squash FPE is used once a week as a booster.

We give a small splash of em straight from the bottle into the feed water every other watering.

TLDR = Organics simple and effective.

Managed to go past my friends place and get some pics and must say with an ac the tent is running at 25'c or 77f which sure beats not having one....

The 2 girls in front are AMS and the two at the back are AMS X Swazi from some seeds found in the AMS that was grown outdoors. The X on the right shows more a sativa pheno whilst the one on the left is more balanced.

These are all being grown according to the above mentioned formula with the exclusion of an extra week in veg and a dose of fish emulsion at about 2.5ml/L at the start of flowering so roughly 5days ago.

such and even but filled canopy. nice job!

just ordered a few seeds

707 Headband
Querkle (2ct)
Amherst Sour Diesel

Sapphire OG
&
Dinafem Seeds White Widow XXL AUTO

last two were freebies. im excited about the sapphire OG tho cuz id like to cross it and the headband with a querkle male. im going to try and cross all of them with a querkle male and fem the offspring.

i was thinking about the fact that i dont have the coffee connect anymore. i used to get coffee grinds by the bakers dozen of 5gal pails as i pleased. but ive since moved. im thinking about where my bokashi should come from nowadays... previous was 1:1 peat and coffee grinds with molasses and EMe.

ive been making quick leaf compost with some good success in rubbermaid tubs. im thinking of just inoculating and fermenting it as it ripens unless if need it for the pot/beds. i use compost activators in the leaf compost and gittitty uppittitty the breakdown rate already but intend on using the standard bokashi formula.
125gal +substrate+( 5 or 6) gal water+ 200mL EMe+ 200mL molasses+ 2wk fermentation. ill post on it when i finish this current leaf compost and ferment it.

Greetings fellow Earth gardeners. This thread is for organic growers who do it all from scratch. Roasted bones, egg shells, fermented plant matter, composting, screening, etc. I want to see recipes and pictures of your hell. No buying premixed organic fertilizers and telling this thread. Of course I'll allow bone meal and that kind of thing. I'll start.
dude,i bought organic chicken manure fertilizers.they didnt give me any npk ratios.just told me to put a small handful around the plant every 2 weeks....does that sound right to u?

id only feed as i see lime green leaves. start reaaaaaaaaally light and remain on the light side of feeding. think 1/2 strength to 1/4 strength versus photos.

but really i gotta see some pot sizes and current soil mix to give you worth while insight

edit: if you're thinking of mixing it into the soil i would use .5:1:1:1 by volume>>>>> chicken manure:peat or coco or biochar:vermicastings:sandy loam.

and ammend it with steamed bone meal, ash, gypsum or lime, crushed quartz rock, some clay (you can disolve it into water), there's alot of K in fruits too so making FPE from fruits would be a nice way to keep it satisfied.

can you collect seaweed? composting it brings up the K value and trace elements.

so i posted a page back or so that i was trying an experiment. well results were 2/4 dead (not crazy surprised) and one got root damage from unplanting. the last of the four i managed to unplant and replant with not much shock at all. so i took some cuts of this plant since i dont imagine this other one will pull through any time soon.

also compact garden starter! noah's ark of plants to replenish my seeds and get a bit of biodiversity going. CIMG2500.JPG CIMG2502.JPG CIMG2503.JPG CIMG2504.JPG CIMG2505.JPG
lol^ probably going to just pull the plug on this thing....:cuss:

CIMG2507.JPG CIMG2508.JPG in organics.. what kills some plants is great for others!
I used the same soil mix that i attempted with those plants^^^up there that died.
new 5gal container mimosa hostillis from 3 gal container. 2ish years old. i harvested some root ball while i was transplanting last week. well anyway i just wanted to show the healthy root pushed through the 75% (fkg+leaf mould) 25% biochar soil. real hot:fire:

2T. Bone meal 2T bat guano 4T ashes 1/2tsp humic acid 1T effective microorganisms from the extended bottle 1T molasses. Picture includes bloodmeal but it should only be mixed into the soil or added to the tea if the tea goes into the soil unfiltered. Bloodmeal is not water soluble. This can be considered 12-24-24 which is suitable for flowering. Add bokashi and manuer for vegging.
idk how high i was when i came up with 12-24-24........... more like 2-4-4 or less at that concentration. but that was bat guano i picked up in Palawan and brought through customs and everything. i was 90% sure id get stopped and asked what the large 1Kilo sack is my luggage.

cold weather is messing up my kombucha scoby errrrrrr argghhhh i was trying the attic and it worked while it was hot outside but its so temperate that i checked up there this morning and saw the scoby had halted growth! SOB so i just put it on my kitchne counter for now. im shopping around for either an all in one kombucha crock or just a heat pad... i do need a glass container though, im using a beer fermenter, which im sure is fine in actuality but kombucha pros recommend glass since it takes on the flavor of the container..

then theres my youngest peyote sprouts from some fruit i picked a few weeks ago.

Also those peyote cactus's of yours, are they simple to maintain? I have always wanted to get some peyote for achem.... Reasons :P but never have just done it. I have a large sanpedro that I grew up with and took a cutting for my kitchen counter but that is where that stopped.

What are those small brown plugs you plant your seeds in?
i have a soil blocker. i harvest some vermicastings, moisten them, and press them into blocks. sometimes i cut the vermicastings with peat moss or powdered biochar.

http://www.johnnyseeds.com/c-455-soil-block-makers.aspx
that link is to the distributer. let me know if you ever get one, there's a few tricks to making them stick the blocker while you move from the pile of casting to the tray.

the smallest ones can hold a weeks worth of growth after germination and the medium can hold 2-3 weeks of growth. theres also shapes you can stamp into the tops of the larger ones that make it so you can trasplant your small blocks into your large blocks
