I've never understood why people come here to learn about growing weed.

How far into flowering, are these almost done? Have the calyxs of the buds in question a) swelled up and b) produced more than two pistils/hairs per each calyx???

Crispy buds near a hot bright light sounds about right but better for us to check futher.

Can't say I've ever had crispy areas of buds for being to close to a light. Yes I've had flowers right to the glass. And sometimes it never harmed them. Other times I've had flowers get bleached and never touch the glass. I know it wasn't temperature that caused it. I think it was more RH issue. But even those few spots that got bleached weren't crispy. However if you combined low RH and high temps I'd think it would be very likely to happen.

You mentioned over ripe buds before in your post i think which was more what i was thinking as they dry out easily but i just cant tell as id expect some damage to the bud with rot but that could be what awaits in the interior. For me its tricky to say.

@GOLDBERG71 My first run with a Chemdog Jack blew up out of control. These monsters grew up into and around the lights that were raised as high as they could go (glass was 10' above the floor). Anyhow, the burnt areas looked just like op's.

Bud rot would look dark grey/green with webbing and feel "mushy".

I got some light burn this grow. The parts closest to the light should be burned not the inside. You have dead spots but I don't think it's light burn so that leaves budrot.

As soon as I saw it, was pretty certain it was botrytis (bud rot.)

I initially thought it was a new guy wondering if his pistils were dying because they were turning orange. Then I saw the original post and I said "Holy fuck" out loud.
