During the allard trial everyone seemed to band together and laugh at all the nonsense that the gov and the so called "experts" tried to use to stereotype all home grows. Dangerous, mold, fire hazards, theft and violence and everyone's fav gang activity.
Everyone was quick to say home grows were no bigger risks then stoves or most other diy projects a tenant could whip up.
Allard trial is a win

Fast forward to August and wow everyone is shocked to not only get grow rights for patients back but patients don't even need their landlords permission.
And for good reason.
After the arguments on here and thinking about some of the comments some made on here I had to agree at the time that it would be "asshole ish" to grow without talking to the landlord.

I decided to broach the subject with my landlord and never even hinted that I was in fact looking for permission yet less then a week later....eviction notice letter in the mailbox and the search Is now on for a new place to live.

Lesson learned
It's a patients right to grow and that right trumps a greedy judgemental landlords right to make a living dictating to tenants.
Don't ask don't tell and don't even hint.
Rant over

It was the same under the mmar. If it was your primary residence you did not need landlord permission. I personally would not tell my landlord how I was treating myself medically, and grow accordingly, with no holes in walls or damaged carpets etc.
with a tent or something similar. (no say gro-box!!)
I don't even tell any friends that I grow, I definitely would not tell a stranger. You would most likely get ripped off if he allowed you to grow there. Not on purpose, but because he would tell two friends and they would tell two friends, and so on and so on. Then there would be a damn faberge party when you were away from the house.

Let's face it. Too many people would rather put us in the same boat as convicted criminals. Than do a little research. And decide for themselves that Marijuana isn't quite the drug the officials would have us to believe.

Despite the fact that there are people who grow massive ops and have assholes rockin up all hours of the day and night. Others just want a little on the side to keep them medicated. Or. Like me. Something to keep the boredom at bay. Rather than getting on the idiotjuice.

Fuck, man, that sucks. Try to do the right thing and it blows up in your face. Been there.

The saying, 'ask forgiveness rather than permission' rings more true than ever.
Ask fuk all
Do what u need too.
I believe everything happens for a reason so even this negativity isn't going to get me down.
I'll find a better place hopefully and rest assured I've learnt a valuable lesson.

grow a pair of nuts while your at it...straight up..tell your landlord to eat shit and assert your rights as a man and tenant..tell him to get fucked and set up your grow and keep growing. If he dont like it, he can take you to the renters tribunal...in the mean time, try and pay him his rent, if he doesnt accept, put it away to pay later if things dont go your way...but most importantly, you dont have to do shit..just keep growing..dont let this guy run your world..he has rules and process to follow...so you can still grow till you absolutley are forced out..your gonna find out real quick most landlords dont want people growing pot in their houses...legal or not...to bad for them...we got the federal gov saying its totally ok

Sorry to hear this Toke...I knew this shit was gonna happen with Landlords. :(
You could try the Human Rights complaint. If the Tribunal takes up the issue, there are absolutely no costs incurred by you.

Under the MMAR you absolutely needed homeowners (landlord) permission (MMAR Form F). Having to not inform your landlord is new to the ACMPR.

And it will probably be the first amendment.

If it wasn't your primary residence. I'm not sure how many people have and continue to get this wrong. If you live in the dwelling and it's your primary residence you don't need permission even if it's a rental.

Thanks a lot "new member" I appreciate waking up to this kind of response. Clearly I posted this rant to be called a coward.

Thanks everyone else but I called the landlord tenant people and they told me I can spend $140 and fight the landlord but they used a family member needing to move back in as the reason. Coincidently a few days after my discussion with them about med pot.
I don't like being anywhere I'm not wanted. Especially after ten years and a hundred grand of rent.

Guy at work has 5 kids and got the same reason, caught him advertising but his lawyer said don't bother.

Yea that's a common way for landlords to dispose of tenants.
It has as much to do with them wanting to double the rent. I simply provided them the motivation to do it now.
Irony is I've always just done what I wanted and never brought it home.
Now I tried to be above board and legal and look where it got me.
I know all the neighbours well so I just hope they are smart enough to actually move a family member in or I will go after them. My lawyer and the landlord tenant people told me that's my only possible silver lining out of this.

I understand your need to not stay where you aren't wanted. I would definitely follow up to ensure it's a family member...if not you have the tenancy branch to go after them...and then the human rights discrimination case.

Keep an eye out for the same advertisement you responded too. I would keep receipts for everything involved in moving.

Also depending on the type of person you are you can drag this on. Was it a N5 you were served with? Do you have a disability? Do you have children or dependants? How much notice was given? Did you sign anything? Depends on what kind of action you want to take.

No it was a hand written notice that the landlord tenant people told me I can choose to ignore.
I do have a disability and kids.
60days notice
And I'm not fighting to stay somewhere I'm not wanted.
I don't have the time and or patience to fight this plus all my ongoing health problems that the landlord is aware of.
