During the allard trial everyone seemed to band together and laugh at all the nonsense that the gov and the so called "experts" tried to use to stereotype all home grows. Dangerous, mold, fire hazards, theft and violence and everyone's fav gang activity.
Everyone was quick to say home grows were no bigger risks then stoves or most other diy projects a tenant could whip up.
Allard trial is a win

Fast forward to August and wow everyone is shocked to not only get grow rights for patients back but patients don't even need their landlords permission.
And for good reason.
After the arguments on here and thinking about some of the comments some made on here I had to agree at the time that it would be "asshole ish" to grow without talking to the landlord.

I decided to broach the subject with my landlord and never even hinted that I was in fact looking for permission yet less then a week later....eviction notice letter in the mailbox and the search Is now on for a new place to live.

Lesson learned
It's a patients right to grow and that right trumps a greedy judgemental landlords right to make a living dictating to tenants.
Don't ask don't tell and don't even hint.
Rant over
Sorry to hear about your situation. Just thinking how can the land lord move to evict you because you asked a question ?

Any landlord can claim a family member needs an apartment at any time.
I've talked to the people at the landlord tenant board and my lawyer. I'm not some uneducated rube. I know I could fight but who wants to spend their life looking over their shoulder and fighting.

Under the MMAR you absolutely needed homeowners (landlord) permission (MMAR Form F). Having to not inform your landlord is new to the ACMPR.
You absolutely did not have to seek landlord permission for your personal grow in your PRIMARY RESIDENCE under the mmar.
A grow in a rental that was NOT your primary residence required permission, or a dg grow that was NOT personal in your residence would have required permission.

I might think about writing the landlord a letter notifying him of your intent to vacate on the date he requested. Then go on to inform him that you plan to sue if you have been forced to move under false pretenses. Let him squirm trying to find an actual family member that needs to move in 60 days.

Crazy housing market in Toronto right now. My aunt just sold her house for 275 over asking on 800k house.
Just ridiculous imo. Way over priced and stupid. How is the common person supposed to survive that type of market. Things are outta control

Not just Toronto either, all over the GTA and surrounding areas. Walked away from a place I was interested in in Huntsville a couple of months back because of a bidding war. Just saw a sign go up in Cookstown at the 400 for "estate homes on 50 & 60 ft. lots from the 900's" (which means if you want toilets in your bathroom you're over the 1M mark). Last time I checked "estate" homes came on 1+ acres? This lunacy has to break at some point, time to sell and rent if you're holding RE.

I've already given up the dream of owning anything in the city I was born in.
Unless you were born into money or have an overpaid job your sol here.
I'll be out of the city within 2yrs one way or the other and in the meantime I'll suffer renting

Definitely causing alot of problems for new folks to the game. I feel for the younger set. I hope we enter a reversal of some of this escalation of prices. I'd be more than happy to see my place devalued by 25% if everything else did as well.

I love those people that say they made money cause their house is worth more then what they paid.
It's a great theory if u don't plan to continue living or are ok with being homeless cause chances are everything else went up just as much

Sell in toronto and move to butt fuck nowhere....cheap..but not near the big smoke anymore. So it's this..or...that.
With what most folks get in Toronto goes huge elsewhere if you live away from the big centers. Trade-off though.

if you want a place here in the Vancouver area, you're going to pay over a million easy. the average home here is now over a million.
our market has cooled a bit since the 15% foreign owner tax and I heard interest has now moved to Toronto

Yeah toronto and an hour within is going crazy. Just bought a new build in June and it's gone up 150k since, without a shovel in the ground. House I'm in has gone up 230k since 2015 December.

Yeah for sure, my kids are older so they both got in at more reasonable prices but right now for starter homes it's ridiculous. They'd have to mortgage so much that if interest rates jumped, or values took a dive, they'd be in trouble.
