do t5's or LED/COB LED mess with radio frequency???

came home today with a note from comcast at my door that read as follows:

"dear valued comcast customer:

during maintenance work in your area on ____, comcast technicians discovered that radio-frequency or electronic interference signals were originating from your home and traveling onto our network through your cable line. these signals are interfering with your neighbors' comcast service. this interference may be cause by loose cable fittings, faulty cable wiring, or other sources in your home. "

it then goes on a bit asking to set up a time to have them check it out.

anyway, wondering if it truly is bad wiring causing the problem or if my lights have something to do with it?? one light is quantam bad boy t5 6 bulb and the other amare se450 in two separate areas. wondering if the lights have anything to do with it - and how would i fix it if they do? maybe i'm just being paranoid but i know i've heard certain digital ballasts interfere with signal (but i have no clue if these lights have anything to do with that) - help? xD

It's a driver or ballast emitting EMR. Do you have your ballasts/drivers near your coax cable?

there is a way to check for this . just turn on a am channel with static and put the stereo next to the ballast light see if you hear any thing . this is expose to work i have read never tried this not sure . like posted above make sure your shit is not over top any cables if your in a legal state let them figure it out they dont care trust me they s ee 10 grows a day

we have no problem at all with interference within the house, odd that the neighbors would be affected by our stuff unless I have a poor understanding of how that all works. anyway. I'll test that when I can, just gotta find a radio xD

It could be anything. A loose fitting or faulty one, bad line.

You don't have to let them in.

Try the am radio test. build a faraday cage t put around ballast if it is them. I have a t5 close to cable lines and wifi. It has not cause any problems.

I have not heard of t5 or led doing it. You may have a legitimate cable problem.

Or could be the cops sniffing around.

ah yeah could be a legitimate cable problem for sure, I know nothing at all about this stuff but setting up the Internet n cable was hell and thought then maybe there were problems, works flawlessly now tho for our house at least. weird.

cops wouldn't put on that ruse to check out a such a small grow would they? I guess I refuse to be paranoid in that way but it is fucking absurd that anyone anywhere would be in trouble for growing plants xD makes me want to go into law for a career.

modern ballast are required to meet strict RFI requirements HIDs have been known to cause RFI but it is very unlikely that your lights are the problem

Not true. Ive been through this exact scenario. The AM radio test works. But i also paid a pro to come in and test because the cable co wouldnt leave me alone. I finally let them in to inspect/fix my lines (because my grow space is well hidden) and after that they left me alone. But they did put a filter on the telephone pole out back.

It all started because my neighbour complained. Even asked me if i was having trouble with the cable.

Cops wont put the cable co up to it. But the cable co is obligated to report that rf noise to the cops....because it is a telltale sign...

Cancel shitty cable. Comcast and TV suck. You can go on one of the forums here and people will tell you how to get everything free over the internet.

I am not sure if just having internet will still feedback over their lines. Maybe AT&T or another provider is better. Either cable TV or the weed has to go.

Keep us posted, curious how this turns out. I would think there would be some kind of meter to show the source that they would possess to negate entering your home until pinpointed???

here is what i would do if i were you . go talk to the people that live next to you . tell them you got a letter . tell them your running a lot of computer equipment . so have them turn on there tv if its static go home unplug your light . then go back see if there tv clears up . then call comcast your self tell them you fixed the problem

i dont think its your light it dont sound right to me . i used to run 6 of these lights 8 bulbs 4 footer never had an issue . only ones i had an issue with were a cheap electronic ballast . could not talk on the phone unless you went for a walk down the street lol

Dude - you should turn off your cable until you figure shit out. You could get popped by the po po just cause you want to watch shitty TV.

Try unplugging your cable then ask the neighbors if they are having a problem.

Had this problem too with digital ballast.. I switched to magnetic and all was good.

yeah yeah yeah, already have some mars hydro's on the way to take the place of the t5's. did some reading about electronic ballasts and thinking that's probably it. there are indeed some loose cables and stuff, plenty of weird cabling going on from whoever lived here last (still have the satellite dish on the roof too, lucky me...). so i'm sure it's a combination of wiring/grounding/electronic ballast.

if i can't work out the t5's for future use, i'll just try my best to sell them on craigslist or something. anyway, i'm thinking the interference can't be THAT wild in the meantime - no issues in the house with cable or wifi or cell phone or anything.

well, checked grounds and look at that. the only outlet that wasn't grounded properly was the one I used for my t5. pfffft.

cancelled order on lights and made appointment for Comcast tech to come by this week. got lights plugged into a GROUNDED outlet now. what luck lol

hmmmmmmmmm . lol and hmmmmmmmmmmm . yeah i could see that being an issue . the earth ground could cancel noises out . should be an easy fix take apart hook back up im sure its there disconnected from the box . dont put your tongue or worse your dick onto the black wire .
