I switched to full on hydro due to bugs in the room which has its own unique struggles lol. I got tired of gnats flying up my nose :(. Never had mites though thank god :).
Oh speaking of gnats, forgot to mention I had those too. Lol gnats, pm, spider mites. A friend came and sprayed avid with an electric blower. I read about how poisonous that shit is so safe to say that crop was fried and tossed into the trash very quickly lol

Well I don't know how much you read but this is only my second crop. First crop was white fire and They were fully vegged, came to my house to start the flower period (which after reading the grow bible I realized moving the plants home that far along stresses the shit out of it) on top of that I got PM and and let it build all over every single leaf alive in that and room and figured, "oh, well it's called white fire, this must be the white stuff that it's supposed to shed?" Lol and then I realized they came with spider mites... bitches were webbing around all of the buds. Let's just say I nearly died bleaching that room. Lol... so if something happens to this crop I will lose my shit, that's why I said I'll give up haha
Bugs aren't anything to fret over. In organics, they're just par for the course. I hit them with one of hour things:

-Dr. Earth's Final Stop (at Home Depot)

-Southern Ag Triple Action Neem Oil (also Home Depot)

-Spinosad

and if all else fails, I'll use

-Nature's Care 3-in-1 Insect, Disease, and Mite Control.

I don't like to use the last one if I can avoid it, because even though it's heavily diluted and not likely to cause harm to humans, Pyrethrins/Pyrethrum/Permethrin are mild to moderately toxic in enough of a dose, particularly to cats. The solution contains sulfur as well as 0.01% or 0.1% Pyrethrins, which are a naturally derived pesticide made from a phytochemical in the Chrysanthemum family.

They are something to fret over when they're eating your plants alive! There were teeth marks on all the leaves. Giant mess!

Fighting those little bastards off as we speak. Remember what I said about Roots Formula 707? More peat than coco = more water retention. If you look into Roots, use their Original or Greenlite.

Ugh I don't know why I came here. So many different opinions ends up confusing the fuck out of you, not helping!

The truth is, there are so many different ways to go about it, most will work, some are shit. You really have to put in the time and effort to find out what works best for you and your grow, despite what all the "experts", scientists, and "Googlers" say.

There's a difference between a Googler and a Researcher. I actually explore the concepts and questions I look to find the information for in pretty good depth. I don't just Google everything, I actually study and apply. The internet, books, class, word of mouth, etc. I'm also a college student and was top of my college Bio class last semester. AP Bio in 9th Grade as well (that was a decade and a half ago, of course.) But you can't just act like anyone who studies their shit is stupid or uneducated; it's pretty much the polar opposite.

Anyone who fails or refuses to investigate the technique, purpose, and efficacy of their own methods and alternatives is much more a fool than one who does.

To be fair, I also had to figure out how to go about watering it. I'm not saying 24/0 doesn't work. I'm saying you should try 18/6 or 20/4 and tell me what your results are before acting like I don't know what I'm talking about specifically because I do my research.
I was just pointing out that 24 works and for fuck sakes Olive I have probably tried it lol. I've done thousands of em over the last 30 years. I say 30 because when I first started growing cloning was not really even tried, it was done mostly by air rooting :).

Do you have any studies that show clones root better with a dark period?

I have data showing that a cannabis plant mostly roots and otherwise grows in the dark due to auxins (hormones that start at the growth tips and descend to the roots; Auxins are the hormones that promote rooting as opposed to Cytokinins which start at the roots and ascend toward the growth tips to promote shoot growth.) Clone gel or not, it would help to go along with the plant's biorhythm instead of trying to work against it.

You also have gibberellins which promote seed germination and stem growth, and ethylene which I think most of us understand as being the female hormone that builds up during the night time as well, and is responsible for the budding process. We use colloidal silver to inhibit ethylene so that the plant remains a female by genetics, but pushes stamens which contain pollen that possesses the female sex chromosome rather than producing pollen that reads "male" in its genetic code. This is where feminized seeds come from, as the sex chromosomes inherited from both parent gametes are female, and thus the zygote (seed) is pretty much 100% likely to be female.

There are others, but those are your 4 main plant hormones.

No no just the cloning thing lol.

Studies please that show better rooting with a dark period. I'm actually really interested in reading this.

You should have a thread titled "why are some people giving me such a hard time" so threads aren't inevitably highjacked to explain lol. It would be so much easier that way :). And no one called you a fool on this thread btw ;).

You're jumping to conclusions again.

AP bio, 9'th grade, 10'th grade Chem, 11'th physics. The only other student "ahead" in the sciences became my best friend (in Chem), his mother was a lead Biochemist at Amgen. I entered 9'th in the 1'st year that LAUSD changed HS from 10-12, to 9-12. My mother brought my transcripts and sat with the counselor to ensure that I was appropriately placed. They still fucked up. I ended up in regular English, History, etc. I was mellow and "go with the flow", so I stuck with it, until halfway through the semester when I was given the GATE test, and they apologized (I still have the highest score from that HS). Uni and post grad completed many moons ago.

Anyhow, I share that with you in hopes to lend credence when I say that none of it really makes a difference in regards to "grow know". Sure, in time you will garner knowledge that will help make "rhyme and reason" of certain articles, but the true extent of it's implications will not be realized without application. This takes time. You can read all day, but that won't make you a pro fisherman, Olympic athlete, Chef, NASCAR driver, porn star, Guitar Hero, Neurosurgeon...
Years of applied knowledge within a given craft, "practice", this is the only way.

You've got a handful under your belt, not an authority on the subject yet.

Like the great "Mighty Eagle" said; "Wisdom is not something that is given, but something that is.... attained.". (I have kids)

Don't take any of this as a "dig", and don't get butt hurt over "Googler" comments (wasn't even directly referring to you, but "experts, scientists, and Googlers" in general).

And And lol. You state the stuff like you've actually tried it, not once saying that this is what you've read, well not until questioned and that is what grinds my gears lol. 5 plants total does not make for a great test sample. Also sorry for the high jack Snoop but you did say you were going to sleep so this should be interesting fodder upon wake up :).
