What I want to know is, why are fuel pumps marked: 'cleaner gas June 1 - Sept. 15' around here? Is that everywhere?
Shouldn't you have cleaner gas the year around. I've been using premium Sept 15 - May 30. I'm told it burns cleaner and it definitely gets a couple miles to the gallon better gas mileage. A race driver friend of mine suggested it. He knows his fuels.

those electric bikes are pretty crazy. the ktm dealer near me has one.. it looks so goofy, but i bet its serious on a track. its just gas and go. no clutch or anything. and its built real solid too. but id rather keep my two stroke 250 for a track, they are better for the environment :D id rather just fill a tank when i run out and keep going right away instead of losing time when its charging

I just got down on all fours and stuck my ass up really high ......waited until the last second ....or until the turtle head was poking ....then I pushed with all my might as if I was try to give myself a hernia ......I've fired well into the street with this technique so if you decide to try it be mindful of traffic,children,and small pets

I can tell you why...(it's not that it's cleaner for your car, it's simply because it's volatility rate is lessened in the hot months, keeping VOCs down a lil)
I can explain a lil more...
if you reaaaally want to screech to a halt this thread.
your racing friend erroneously informed you by the way
premium gas burns NO different in regards to cleanliness, nor does it get you better gas mileage
simply resists predetonation from high combustion ratios. (performance engines)
past that it does not help your engine, in fact in some engines it can damage exhaust valves

when i was a younger and got a my first street bike i was told the same thing.. i was going to put premium in it and was told not to because id destroy my valves.. burns to hot or something

especially in a bike!
what happens is the flame front is typically advanced to the end of the stroke, and then when the fuel/air mix is burned it's ignited but burns as it exits the back of the valve seat.
most engine designs prevent this, but some do not...
that being said I've never seen an exhaust valve that is burned SOLELY from running high octane gas (how could one tell the origin of a burned valve?), but it's certainly not likely.
premium gas is simply wasted money on 95% of the cars nowadays.
