Yeah. That was more than a little fucked up. I'm usually cool with him, but I can't agree with that kinda shit. You were right. People definitely aren't on the streets by choice, and when you get there, it's a bitch and a half to find your way out of it. We should be looking at people as people. No one down on their luck should be regarded as vermin.

I'm just an asshole and like to deal with shit by making jokes, because Id rather not actually get pissed off.

But I got close to really getting upset in that thread and had to back away because it was starting to get to me.

I'd have said something, but I had that ceremony to focus on, so I couldn't allow myself to get distracted. Besides, shit might have gotten more out of hand if I got involved.

I don't blame you, though. I dunno what makes him feel that way, but I do feel that stance is horrifically near-sighted. If that kind of mentality became mainstream, we'd see a lot of innocent people become casualties. I can't stand for something like that at all.

I tried to reason with them.

One time I was at a buddies house and his kid bit another kid. His wife bit him and said "See? you don't like it, right?" I was sitting there shocked like wtf?!?! How did that teach the kid anything? smh

My point, is I felt that reasoning was better than trying to counter hate with more hate and anger. Not sure if it worked, but that was my plan.

I donated over $10,000 in cash to charity this year. That's not a joke.

I'm not a millionaire, but I'm financially well situated and I don't forget where I came from.

I was on welfare for 4 weeks in 1981. I recovered nicely and don't turn my back on others. It's only money and I don't need a Mercedes to be happy. My 10 yr. old F-150 suits my personality better anyway.

Must be some kind of personal issue. Maybe he had a bad experience with a homeless dude, maybe he's in the middle class, who knows? I think it's just a lesson he'll learn in time.

Depends on the kids age, under about 5 kids don't, generally, have any sense of empathy. They will remember action=reaction, so they will remember this action=bad feeling for me. Around 5 you can start to, try, to reason with children. I don't have any spawn, probably a good thing.

All I live off of is about $1059 from my pension from the Army and another $1500 when I'm in classes from my BAH. I feel guilty and blessed to have even that a lot of the time.

All I care about is getting my degree and eventually working for MAPS. I want to work with psychotropic drugs in such a way that it helps people, especially cannabis and psychedelics.

And if anyone is in the spirit of giving this season, Sunni has a terminally ill aunt with 2 children. Their father died in an accident. A trust fund has been set up for those kids. I donated $100.

I'm sure Sunni would give anyone the site if you have a little extra. The pictures there of the kids are heart wrenching.
