Goodbye John Glenn

Kirk Douglas turned 100 today.
Yesterday my local classical station played a symphony by William Herschel. I read as a kid about his exploits as an astronomer. He discovered Uranus and compiled the New General Catalogue, a list of close to ten thousand deep-sky objects that is the gold standard for today's amateur visual astronomer. Only two years ago did I learn that he was also a composer of the first rank and a contemporary of Papa Haydn.
After playing the symphony, the announcer eulogized John Herschel Glenn, who was apparently named for the astronomer/composer.

"The Right Stuff" was a great movie. For anyone interested in our space program and hasn't seen it, you'd really enjoy it.

He always knew when to "keep his wick dry".
RIP John Glenn.
Is a great movie. I actually have like a third cousin who is in that movie. If memory serves she is one of the lesser wives. Her name is Micky. Haven't seen it in forever. May have to see if it's on netflix.
