Buds on fan leaves?

Its not genetic although it may help.. Imo this is a acid abundance in your plant causing mutating
You may be onto something here. The one I posted I've been running for 3+ years and this is the first time I've seen it. The plant has grown huge colas and probably the biggest yield per gallon I've ever pulled off it, BUT, it's been a lighter green, almost yellowish tint throughout the flowering cycle. At first I thought it was N deficiency but no matter how much N I tried to feed it, it stayed the same colour. Maybe something in the medium in that specific pot (5 others went in at the same time, and they look normal)...

It's getting more common to see this! 3rd or 4 th post about that here in a year....

Nice point!
(Amino acid)...repressed trait, that is brought out by a particular amino acid increase or "overexposure"? Hell could be underexposure too!
Amino's affect gene sequencing expression!...I mean that's what amino's do, affect translation of mRNAs or maybe better to understand that Amino Acids are regulators of genetic expression...

@MichiganMedGrower That help some MMG?
Ok. I get that.

I forgot to mention in my post I feel I was using too much nitrogen in flower when I grew that plant and I have not seen these anomalies or any real regrowth since I learned to taper off feed better.

Thoughts?

And if it is amino acid imbalance why?

And since it was said to be specific to certain strains by a 35 year breeder do Thai strains have genetic imbalances?

Bacteria & humic acid will hep prevent this... Superthrive & other products like it can cause this if used in abundance
I am growing in ocean forest with pure blend pro. Plenty of bacteria and humic acid.

Never ever use any additives.

Do you have a source for this info?

I would tend to believe the breeder that it is genetic. And he is against additives like superthrive too.

Minor control of the amino production!
Some things have good amino's in them - kelp is one.

I found years ago that stupidthrive was only any "good" in veg. Does nothing in bloom for the plant.....But, yeah it could supply too many amino's. Could be altering the plants amino production!....It's basically a sham.

There is a genetic factor to it! Landrace strains are old and have been around for centuries. They can have area's of plants that have genetic damage that moves along in the natural breeding. It may have been a ancient genetic trait that still can be expressed by those -O- so old landrace strains. you know, not quite evolved out of it yet... Remember that sativa's are equatorial and are exposed to more light over time. Or that high Mountain strains get more chromosome damaging UV radiation!

These could be factors for that Amino affect on the Genetic "trait" being expressed......Still, the big point is that amino's are directly involved in genetic expression..

As far as amino imbalance - Supplements contain amino's.....Nutrient content affects natural plant amino production. That could be many things.....pH of soils can effect amino availability.....Nutrient levels in the plant affect amino levels too......

Hmm, I do remember many a year ago. My brother had the Vietnamese Black that I have.....OLD strain from war seeds....It did it for him a cpl times....

I haven't ever seen it in the strain here.....I did some IBL work with her to make her more stable though.....

Source info would be like reading up on the use of amino acids in genetic expression.....Amino's work in all living things that way...

I never really thought about this expression in our plants....much.....

Well, there's my 2 cents on it!

I've seen the condition a couple of times and make a point of keeping those budlets separate from the main harvest. At first I was afraid of somehow contaminating the rest of the product, then I realized I liked the smoke better. I compare the budlet buds as being more like product from an auto, lighter, maybe fluffier.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Thank you. Nice answer.

As far as superthrive and the like. The Breeder of the plant I showed the bud leaves of warns heavily not to use Superthrive or what he calls (English is not his main language or in the top 3)
"Vitamin bottles"

He says even use on a seedling can set up a male reversal later on a feminized plant.

So to support amino acid research needed messing with them can hermie your fem seed from the genetic level it seems.

For credibility The breeder of CH9 was given new hydro medical clones by Max and Ed Rosenthal in 1993 for the new med grows in California. He has been featured in the big book of buds several strains and a breeding article in Skunk Magazine on feminized seeds.

His English sucks but he is a super knowledgable gardener and breeder.
