HELP!! First grow, Perfect to dying overnight!

Hey guys, I am 2 months veg. into my first grow. The plant has been perfect and very happy so far. No deficiencies, slow growth or any issues whatsoever. She is completely organic and has been great with only water.

I have her in a 5-gallon pot with organic soil. I water 2-3 full bottles every 4-5 days. She is under a 600w MH light. I have good ventilation and air movement throughout the tent. The space is 32” x 32” x 60”. She has been topped a bunch. My point is, everything so far has been very normal and I am not doing anything out of the ordinary.

I left town a week ago and have a friend taking care of her. My friend got clear instructions on how to care for her. The plant has been doing great up until yesterday (Thursday).

Today, My friend let me know how droopy she is. He watered her when she was dry this past Tuesday. He said she was fine on Wednesday. On Thursday, he noticed that she was very droopy. I just got some photos and she looks extremely droopy.

I believe she has been over-watered. I am kind of freaking out since I am not completely sure. I was hoping some of the more experienced growers could help me out and diagnose my girl.


Any help would be much appreciated!!

It's hard to tell from those pics. Can you do some close ups please? Use your flash as well.

Hey, (stalking from other thread) did you say that she's 60 days Veg on water only? You just transplanted recently before the switch from LED, right? So, this soil is fresh around the starter size? I would put that air pot on a rack or something to let air under it and drain better. See if it perks up after and a day drying out. Not sure what containers you were in before, but don't air pots dry out quicker?

Tell your "buddy" to stop lying. Looks like hasn't been watered in a week.

When I was gone for 3 days my plants looked like that when I got back. Scared the hell out of me. I watered them and in 1.5 days she was perky like nothing happened.

Notice how there's a bowl full of water, I think he's trying to place a subliminal messages to reassure you that he is watering the plant. Lmao

Either way I think he's bluffing. Just make sure he waters it

You should provide other details, such as your growing medium, your watering frequency, nute lineup, temperature, humidity, etc.

That really just looks like an overwatered plant. Tell your buddy to hold off the water for the next 24 hours and see how the plant responds.

Why are you vegging it for 2 months, anyway? Time to put that lady into bloom :)

I think it is underwatered. I have seen that droop with underwatering.

Don't blame the buddy. Growing plants like this is a full time job. The OP should have built a simple gravity drip system.

Temps are 75-90 degrees. I forgot to mention that the humidity has been very low for the past 3 weeks. It seems to sit right around 16%. After some research, I realized this was extremely low and could slow or even stop growth. I also read that each strain reacts differently. My plant did not seem to mind, she continued to grow and was always healthy.

I told my friend to buy a humidifier for now. Hopefully I can get the RH up and back to around 40%. This way I will know that I have a totally controlled environment and grow. Hopefully I will be able to rule out my problem shortly.

Trust me, my friend wants her to thrive just as much as I do. The bowl you guys see was put in just before I left as I wanted to raise the humidity. I've read that my light could help evaporate the water out into the air, didn't really do anything.

Let me know what you guys think!

Hey man, I'm with you on that and totally agree. With that said, not everyone is fortunate enough to have it like that. You gotta remember, were all here for the same reason :). In the end, I'm going to try my best to work with what I got, Honestly I feel I'm lucky to have what I got.

Back to my original point, I got a sick girl that needs some help, that's all. Hopefully we can get this all sorted out and back to normal asap.

Yes, shes right around 60 days now. She was transplanted about 3 weeks ago from a 2 gallon smart pot. I am using organic super soil so all I need to add is water. The soil is loaded with organic nutes and everything she needs. I use natural spring water. I can see if my friend could get a crate or something for under the pot.

Looks like I'm getting a lot of mixed answers here :-|. A few weeks ago we had some signs of under-watering. Leaves were drying up and turning yellow from the tips on in. I was able to fix this by adding water and finding a balance.

The photos I got today don't look the same as when she was under-watered. She looks very green and was healthy just a day ago. I don't see yellowing like before. Also, I know he has been watering it a good amount so it really just doesn't make much sense.

That looks like an overwatered plant. Top of your growing medium looks moist, so it doesn't seem like underwatering is the issue. It's possible your buddy is being overzealous with watering - a common mistake for inexperienced growers - this is how I learned about this issue myself :) Most beginners think any issue is an underwatering issue so they try to fix it by watering more, but end up drowning the poor plants.

Growing Medium
- Kind organic soil (bottom half of pot)
- Potting soil to fill the rest
- Hydroton layer on top

Watering Schedule
- 3 full water bottles every 5 days. (The pot dries out and is usually very light)

Nutes
- The organic soil provides everything the girl needs to veg. and flower.
- I add nothing but natural spring bottled water.

Temp/Humidity
- 75 to 90 degrees
- 16% (This has been very low for the past few weeks)

I think this is over watered as well. I let him know not to water for the next few days. I will now be getting updates daily on her vitals :)

I am vegging this long since I have a single plant scrog and want to completely fill the net. I have a good amount of space and she seems to be coming along nice. I was going to flip her before I left but I didn't trust my friend tucking and filling the scrog. I would like to be home for the stretch. Also, an extra 2 weeks of uninterrupted veg can only be good!
