But most don't! I still suggest it to those who have no idea how organics (or nature for that matter) work. It is a great book for the organic newbie! Application of what they learn is up to them. By the way. It's written by Jeff Lowenfels.....I don't know where you get the "she" from....
Stable soils.....By far the most used one here would be FFOF......I find it as incomplete and rather nasty really. Use OF and have gnats! Low on Ca and Mg (why I suggest to add at least a heaping 1/2 cup to a bag). Needs perlite kinda bad. Is taken from the wild and varies in nutritional value by harvest locations.
As far as the book being gospel.....at least half of it is! He spends that time explaining how soil works in nature....maybe you should read it.....Then you'll know whats really in it!
HE does have another book out too.

Jeff wrote that book for her. You are talking about the wrong person. I was referring to the Soil Food Web from Dr Elaine Ingham. I have nothing against the Teaming books although the first one is my least favorite. I think it is regurgitating misinformation from her in places however.

since you asked about tds meters then things went way off track.....theres more than one scale, you need to figure out which scale your pen uses. and theres at least two styles of pens, ppm is parts per million, ecs is electrical conductivity. a lot of people swear by ec, but i personally like ppm, just because its a finer scale, ec goes from like 0 to 2.5 and thats a huge range, ppm goes from zero to w/e, i can add different things and check the ppm as i'm adding each, i just think its more accurate if you're mixing your own ingredients

You do realize that all meters read in EC, then convert it to PPM, using that manufacturers conversion, either .5 or .7? So your not actually getting a more accurate reading your way, just displayed differently. A .7EC is .7EC no matter what, but could be 350-490 ppm +/-, depending on conversion factor and accuracy. How accurate do you really need to get? If your nutrient program is balanced, a range of +/- .1 EC should be a fine enough graduation.

Sadly FFOF is not organic,, the bag says all natural, they took the organic off the bag a while bag as they started using some non organic ad ins
still good soil, but we cant claim organic any longer with ffof
also, your soil is still too young to be adding any nutes or teas/,, and Domolite lime takes a solid 6 weeks to even start to break down, hyroot used to claim it took 6 months to break down,,
So adding cal mag is usually always neccasary with ffof ,, for me especially under my cob lights

Although you can raise soil pH faster or slower, doing so more quickly often has risks for plants. Hydrated lime is usually the fastest-acting substance to raise soil pH, but it burns plant roots easily and should be avoided if possible. Of the two agricultural limes, dolomitic and calcitic, calcitic is faster but not preferable because it can damage plants. So I've read the first 60 or so pages of the Living Organic Soil thread. It has me convinced that I can use Oyster shell, glacial and volcanic rock dust instead of using dolomite lime. I understand that DL takes a long time to break down and become available. I'm unsure of the why.

Just Google teaming with nutrients PDF and about 4-5 full books will pop up got plenty of reading to do may take me while got into a lil. It really explains in dept of how everything works. When I have a lip more time I'm eventually going to read it all. Thanks for links or telling me about guys I appreciate it.
