Dunno if I would call it extortion. But he does seem intent on trying to lose friends. If it is true, this is pretty much the last way you want to bring the subject up.
Unless you were more interested in your own image than in protecting and advancing America's interests. Or you were actively working for Putin. I suspect the former. Donald is not a complicated fellow. Putin picks guys like him out of his teeth. In other words, Putin knows that Donald serves his interests by just being Donald.
I just cannot even fathom the lack of preparation he does for these meetings. Or, more likely, the totally misguided preparation. I guarantee that he and his staff took more time on the "something we have in common" jibe that anything else. Once Bannon dropped that nugget of shit, all discussion stopped so they could make sure the entire right-wing meme-machine could kick into gear.

It's not important anyway, the Europeans think Trump is a dick head either way but trade with the US is nonetheless very important to the Krauts.
I'm fine without it. There are times when I think "a doobie would be nice right now". Not having it has in no way caused any negative effects, so it's cool.
