I am here to inform all that are having temperature problems to please get an air conditioner, if you are having issues keeping your grow room cool then don't try to cut corners, go big or go home. Give up if your plants are trying to survive in 90 degree plus temperatures.
No your plant will not be ok in those temps, we a nearing summer which means its getting hotter outside which means inside is going to def be too hot without A/C especially under HID'S and the only possible way to get around the heat in your indoor grow, is to Guess what? that's right! get a freaking air conditioner!
I could only do without one in winter, but not now, i have a 12,000 BTU Portable air conditioner and i keep my room around 75-77 degrees, and that is optimal.
Your plants cannot grow at 90 very well and slow down.
Don't even waste your time growing inside in the summer time if you dont have any air conditioning. Id rather put them outside and hope for the best, rather than make them die of heat stress, oh ya, stress! if you do keep them in extreme temps soaring that high you are asking for one stressed out plant that can very potentially go HERMIE!

I have a LG 9000 btu for a 5'x3x8 H. Haven't really had to use it yet but are ready. I think we'll ride the vegg out at 85* though. These things pull 600 watts and more when the compresser is on but it becomes necessary.

I was wondering since I'm venting it outside all so how much smell will be pulled out of it through the Ac's intake ? I read of peps tapping or putting on extra carbon air filter screens to the intake ports.

Exactly! mine is a dehumidifier as well!! So it accomplishes allot of things. Also i keep the whole back side of my dwelling including my grow tent cool with this one A/C. I love it, and i don't know what i would do without it!

yeah, funny thing was.. is I didn't even realize that they made these portable a/c units until I had a crazy idea of how to cool my grow room and my house down this summer and just started doing some research on them.

then, the same night I came up with the idea.. I seen this thing on some shopping network show and they had it for just over $400 bucks and once I seen all the functions and everything.. I had to have it.

I've had mine for about 6 days now.. and I don't see how I made it this long without using one of these. I'll never sell mine.. I'll use this thing until the nuts and bolts fall out of it.

Funny thing is.. is people are probably reading this thread thinking "pffft.. it can't make that big of a difference". Well, those people are sadly mistaken.. and will never be able to see the full potential of their indoor grows during the hot summer months.. until they try one.

Like I said.. its made an unmeasurable difference to not only my plants environment.. but my entire house as well.

Highly recommend this unit.. for the second time.

Also i want to point out something that is obvious to some, but also if possible have lights on during the majority of time when the sun is down, this will always keeps things cooler.
As well as having air cooled lights if possible.

I run about the majority of the time when lights on, but of course it has a thermostat that can be set. If say you have it set at 75 it will continue to maintain that temperature by compressing on and off with the compressor when needed, when the compressor switches off for a little because the desired temp is reached, then its just the blower running, which when the compressor switches off, it uses less electricity, then when it starts to get warmer than the set temp it switches on the compressor to produce and eject cool air again until reaches at set desired temp, and it does this off and on throughout the day.
Mine uses 1124 watts, which will differ from unit to unit. One thing im not sure, is if that 1124 is reduced when the compressor switches off. Which i assume it does peak at 1124 watts when system is fully running with compressor on.

A/C set to 75 or cooler if you are trying to cool more than just your grow room.
I am cooling the whole back-half my dwelling with this one portable A/C, its in the direct center of the back-half of my dwelling.
I keep the thermostat at 62 degrees during lights on, which cools the whole back-half area to around 60-65 when its 85-90 outside, My 4x5 grow tent with a cool tube 1000w 12 inches above my canopy is in this back-half of my dwelling, area. Inside the tent at canopy level i have 75-77 degrees on average.
424 CFM 6" fan is what my inline is cooling the 6" cool tube, a couple of oscillating fans in the tent.
When lights go out, i turn off the A/C and my home stays cool for the rest of the day, until the next day after the lights have come back on for about an hour, so about 11 hours a day im running it.

A few things to consider when you install an A/C inside your tent.

1. Make sure your exhaust ducting is fitted well, no leaks. Producing that nice cool air creates alot of heat and any leaks will cancel out and cooling effect.

2. Keep any ducting for exhaust (within the tent) to a minimum, the ducting itself can radiate alot of heat.

3. open up any lowline inlet vents, the exhaust fans can draw alot of air from the tent and your negative pressure will become huge. (my tent looked like it was going to implode when I threw A/C in).

4. Be aware that the exhaust is throwing out unfiltered smelly air..... make sure your venting is out of a top window or any nosy neighbors will smell a rat.

Most of those portable A/Cs are junk if they only have the one vent. They create negative pressure in your house. I already have central air but I needed a dehumidifier. I thought why not spend the extra 100$ and get an ac and dehumidifier combo and then I can save on running my central air. The negative pressure the ac caused by venting outside, it was pulling hot air in from other places in the house like the attic, causing my house ac to run constantly. The added hot air and venting of treated air resulted in a lot more power being used and no additional colling effect. On top of that I disconnected the vent outside and tried just running the dehumidifier. Well it took 2 tablespoons of water out of the air in 24 hours with humidity above 60% in my house. I couldnt return it fast enough, and get a dehumidifier that worked. Pulling more than 70 pints a day out now. Also I found my house ac is more than adequate to keeptemps around 76. Not saying they dont work for some situations, but ddefinitely would have been a huge waste for me. Also the single vent would have blown stinky air right outside if I were flowering.
