I have always used Hps for flowering but in my he setup I'm thinking of going with both HP's and mh mainly because I have them. In anyones experience are there any advantages of using both?
That won't be sufficient light for that space.Thanks man. Really I'm just trying to get the most I can in the flowering room. I didn't want to buy another HP's if I didn't have to. Guess I'll give it a go and see how it turns out. I have a 5x5 flower room and the plan is to use two 400s one being the HPS and the other the MH.
800watts isn't enough for a 5x5 area?? I have grow n with 600w in the same area and never had any problems. As far as LEDs go I'm not in the market for new lights just trying to use what I have.That won't be sufficient light for that space.

Worse, it's very inefficient and will emit more heat than light into the space, requiring you to spend additional resources for cooling.
The same can be said for HPS lamps. They're both late for their date with history's scrap heap.
Frankly, there are better LED choices now on the market that will produce far superior results; both initially and years down the line. Costs have declined, as well.
Investigate the LED threads here, with special attention to quantum board lights.

You are always on here pushing leds. You do realize there are quite a few people here who have switched to led and after 1-2 runs returned to hps for flowering. I did keep led In the veg room but will be changing that soon aswell.That won't be sufficient light for that space.

Thanks. 800w is what I got so I guess I'll run it and hope for the best.Also the LED salesman is not wrong about the wattage of the lights. 800 watts of HID is perfect for a 4x4 space at 50w per square foot.
But if you just keep the plants off the edge of the space I think because it's 2 overlapping lamps it will work fine.
Or ideally 1000w in the 5x5 is normally suggested.

first 2 weeks reduces stretching, the last 2 has UV to add Resin.

But I do agree the single ended metal halide will help keep plants more compact and add more resin. They do in my room.

I dont know where you havent read, but LED's do run significantly cooler and can be 50% more efficient with electrical usage at the same PPF HID's put out. I only run a small tent, 2.5' X 2.5' and replaced the 250w hps in there previously with 2 cobs running 180w. Tent temps dont increase more than 1 degree above room temp, wattage is down about 25%, PPFD is 850 at canopy, and spectrum i chose is better for flower (3000k vs 2000k hps). total light cost was about $160What's the point of LED at this point?
