Organic vs. hydro... another rant.

Ok, listen...I don't get it. I'm growing "farm-organic" homemade (I'm not going to say the ss word here for fear of confrontation) soil and feed teas and my pest control is 100% organic (minus neem but that's debatable) and I go to the "hydro store" usually to laugh at the prices on the bottles and I. Just. Don't. Get. It. All y'all talking about ph and "tiger bloom Ching" and I'm all like "man if I had to grow hydro... I think I'd quit growing out of frustration, lack of knowledge, terminology and fear of inevitable failure. Which puts me in a bad place as far as I'm concerned. But instead I got high quality, clean, earth friendly medicine for myself. It just seems like y'all wanna do shit the hard way and for what? More weight and less quality. (oops, here it comes! Let me just say it befor you do, "dude, theres no proof" or this one...."dude, there IS proof hydros as good/better then organics....blah blah blah.". You know what your trading your quality for weight and you have zero respect for the earth and in turn life in general and it's selfish and greedy and for that.... I'm out boys. Give me a good reason to switch that will benefit someone or something other then me. I'm all ears.... and some mouth.

loved my hydro, then I loved my organic more.
side by side, organic is friendlier, safer, dirtier, better tasting for me
hydroponic is tinker funner wetter, little faster in veg, cleaner more expensive, to own, operate, power and repair.

It's a poor carpenter that blames his tools.
gotta say , the tools are much different, hydro is very basic and not diverse at all, just a few chemicals made in a lab , organics are much much more complex, billions of reactions are happening each second at a micro level. So if we are comparing tools, hydro is like an abacus , and organic would be a super computer.

Soil doesn't always equal quality nor does hydro equal less quality. Both must be balanced correctly in terms of nutrients or the yield and quality suffer. I personally dislike most of the hydro I have encountered but I would blame the grower and not the media.
Quality is all about grower skill and being able to read your plants.
Most noobs think there's a secret formula, but it's not that simple. You have to know what the fuck you are doing to grow quality medicine consistently.

lol, Godwin 2.0: as a thread about Cannabis fertilizer proceeds, the probability of some ignorant hippie bringing up Monsanto approaches one.

I don't personally have a vendetta against Monsanto; hell I really like a couple of GH products (acquired by Monsanto).
But...
Your credibility is compromised when you attempt to stereotype everyone who disagrees with you -- in advance.
Gotta do better than that, junior.

How much do you really know about plants? Do you really understand the differences between organic and synthetic? I'm not saying one or the other is better, I'm just curious how much you know.

Monsanto doesn't own or manufacture either Miracle Grow or General Hydroponics. Replying "I'd rather not" when someone suggests you look at something that might contradict your closely held beliefs is practically the definition of ignorance.

Theirs no stopping this Organic Ripoff
..
Erosion of standards[edit]
Critics of formal certification also fear an erosion of organic standards. Provided with a legal framework within which to operate, lobbyists can push for amendments and exceptions favorable to large-scale production, resulting in "legally organic" products produced in ways similar to current conventional food.[85] Combined with the fact that organic products are now sold predominantly through high volume distribution channels such as supermarkets, the concern is that the market is evolving to favor the biggest producers, and this could result in the small organic farmer being squeezed out.

In the United States large food companies, have "assumed a powerful role in setting the standards for organic foods."[86] Many members of standard-setting boards come from large food corporations.[86] As more corporate members have joined, many nonorganic substances have been added to the National List of acceptable ingredients.[86] The United States Congress has also played a role in allowing exceptions to organic food standards. In December 2005, the 2006 agricultural appropriations bill was passed with a rider allowing 38 synthetic ingredients to be used in organic foods, including food colorings, starches, sausage and hot-dog casings, hops, fish oil, chipotle chili pepper, and gelatin;

this allowed Anheuser-Busch in 2007 to have its Wild Hop Lager certified organic

"even though [it] uses hops grown with chemical fertilizers and sprayed with pesticides."[87][88]

Yeah right! And what get trolled the rest of my life? lol I'd rather hangout here under the protection of more educated "organic" growers then myself and talk my shit. Caribou don't walk into a wolf pack they hide amongst their own kind for protection....But I bet at least one of em sticks his tongue out. ;)

For something so "simple" it's aweful hard to get educated with so many nute lines that newbies have no idea where to start. It's extremely overwhelming! Soil at least you know where to start. "First you need some dirt...." that'll get you started! At least newbies feel like they at least get the basic idea. You start a newbie out with hydro it's "first you get some water... and pumps...and air stones... and heaters and coolers and lights and atleast 5 of the 1400 bottles you see here but in the right combination which is up to you to figure out or just ask someone on rollitups hydro section cause they will all tell you...something different from the next one. And if you have problems...it could beeeee.... anything really. Oh and by the way all this is going to cost you... one miiillllion dollars. And if you get pests just spray em down with ••••icide snap open a Dr. Doom and hang a no pest strip directly over your plants."

Right but we don't have to worry about the complexities! Mother natures doing that and the selection of materials in organics is much leaner I feel. I don't know, I wanna say maybe I've paid more attention/studied up more on organics cause it's the way I've always wanted to grow. Probably due to being raised on a small farm with a huge garden that we merely put the cow shit to every year and grew amazing vegetables. But you know.... I don't think that's the case. Maybe it's the longer list of options/brands/ratings that deters me. I feel like hydro guys are just guys with extra money that just like to tinker with shit and don't have as much riding on their grows. Insert pigeon here ----->O.
