FDR had star power. He raised the standard of living for the common man with SS and the NLRB, supporting unions created a strong middle class and a strong tax base.

FDR got 4 terms not because of 'star power' but because he listened to his constituents and passed legislation that helped them.

We live in an oligarchy. The implication of this is that the People DON'T get what they want, either from Republican or Democratic administrations and that's why they're continually frustrated.

If the People actually got what they need from their government, they'd stick with them.

This isn't a left vs right problem. This is a 'the whole damned system is games by monied interests' problem and the average American citizen is waking up to that fact.

The current administration is helping a lot in this regard, I'm hopeful that will be the Chump's lasting legacy.

I'm with you on the swing and why. There are a lot of people who just don't understand that the left is championing their interests and isn't some kind of communist monster. The brainwashing is deep with these people.

There's a guy on here that says he didn't vote for Trump and wants most of what we do- but didn't vote for Bernie because 'socialism will destroy our country!'

I voted for Bernie in the primary and when he lost I voted for Mrs Clinton in the general. So don't blame me! That's how primaries are supposed to work. Colorado went for Bernie, and then Clinton. Look it up

The facts are that no one is a more popular sitting politician in America today than Bernie Sanders and that it doesn't have to do with anything other than his stand on the issues.
