4 x 4 x 6.5 Grow tent in Coco.

Ok so I'm doing my second grow in this tent. Using a 600w My light for my Veg and will be using a 600w HPS for when I eventually stick in flower. Plan was going to have 9 in 20gal pots but one of them didn't crack when terminating so just going to go eith the 8. Kinda works well because now I have a fan in it's place where it can rotate across then all. Managed to get about 2 and a half oz each off 4 the last time in smaller pots so hoping for abit of an increase in yield.

GROWING Girl Scout Cookies Kush they're in about their second week. And thinking of Topping then eventually scrogging. Just wanting to ask some of the more experienced growers if this would be the best idea or if there's anything I'm missing I could possibly do?

When would be the best time to top my plants? I have slot of height room that could have been used on my previous grow when I topped so I'm thinking will I let them grow abit bigger first and then top so that the height isn't reduced as much or top now and top again in a couple weeks time.

Was going to Top today but I only repotted to the smart pots couple days ago so wanting a better root base before I start damaging it. (I'll include pictures) light and humidity seem to be doing ok. No higher than 25.5 degrees when light is on, Humidity around 45 - 55 and about 18 - 19 when lights are off. (Yes it's cold in England) any thoughts or suggesting would be very much appreciated. .

Also nutes I am using is Canna A + B and Rhizotonic for the roots. If I've . Missed anything let me know cheers people

Alright matey.
I think you mean 20ltr pots because you wouldn't fit 9 or 8x 20 gallon in there.
You cant ScrOG that many plants in that space, you can add a net to support them but I wouldn't even fo that to be fair, it will be too packed and they wont have the movement or air circulation so mould could be an issue. Plus once in a net you cant ,move them about.
If you top them and grow them to 2-4 cola plants then you can continue to grow them in height and each cola will grow. If you top them later then they will split into multi colas higher up the plant. Either is fine, its preference as to the shape you want.


You want to place something under those pots so they are not sat in there own run off when you water, you want some run off to prevent salts building up and locking out nutrients.

You would be wise to pick up a bottle of cal/mag because coco tends to latch on to calcium resulting in calcium deficiency.
You should also pick up a bottle of pk13/14 since your using canna nutrients. Its ment to be used toward the last 3rd of flower (roughly) but you can give them a lower dose of a and b and a small dose of 13/14 earlier to raise the PK ratio. Since cannas nutrients come in part A and B which is used through the whole veg and flower cycle.

You will find the training style and plant count that suits you after a grow or three!

Thanks for the quick reply ! So your saying not to bother with the scrog then? Noticed I had the tent under 4 x 4 x 4 but it's actually a 4 x 4 x 6.5 so I do have the extra height for it.

So would you maybe suggest topping just now and the maybe Top again in a couple weeks? Just the last time I topped quite early and the resulting height in the end wasn't as big as I had hoped to be, it was Afghan Kush and Candy Kush I used last time. The Candy had a decent height to it but the Afghan was quite small so I'm not sure if that was just because of the Strain type maybe?

My understanding is that the longer I leave to top in veg the overall size of the plant up top will be bigger?

Just trying to make use of the extra height that I have so nothing is wasted .

Also funny you should say the Pk13/14 bloom I already have that on order for when I put into its 12/12 flower mode was going to be using thay aswell as a Cannaboost Accelerator

Ok thanks for the input . I had watered shortly before that picture but currently watering every 2 - 3 days once its gone dry and flushing after 3rd watering. Is that Ok?. Any thoughts on what to do when it comes to the topping - do it now or leave it for abit longer? Plan Is to get abit more extra height compared to when I don't it last time. Thanks again

With that many plants in there topping is, as I say a matter of preference. You don't have to do it.
It will take some searching but Its worth looking for The Yorkshiremans posts on the UK thread, somewhere in the last 20 pages, he grows 9 plants per half (tent 8x4) and doesn't top them, lets the main cola be the dominant one, results are very good.
Topping also depends on strain, as does final height, I grew OG kush for a few years, that was a very squat plant. But still pull 3-3.5 oz per plant with 4 weeks veg from clone. Kush tends to be shortish.
I top early. The side branches become the mains but they will grow as much as I veg for. How many times you top is up to how many top colas you want. But too many can have a negative effect, you have a lot of plants, you don't want 12 tops per plant if that means your over crowded and light wont get to the lower portion of the plant because you have a too dense canopy. But there are ways to deal with that if that's what happens. I suppose if you top later all the lower branches will be mains vs topping sooner and having less tops due to less growth as they are at the moment.

As far as ScrOG its used to create a large canopy with as few a plants as possible, for those who have a limit to plant numbers and those that want an even canopy to maximise yield, but the canopy may only be 9" of buds and everything else is cut off below. Just seems a waste to do this with 8-9 plants. Plus the practicality of been able to tuck branches and train them properly under a ScrOG net becomes impossible in a tent with more than 4 plants. So yeah I would forget about ScrOG.
Just to point out that the Real ScrOG method has been diluted to been almost unrecognisable standards, there are a few good ScrOGers on here but over the years everyone seems to think slapping a net over some plants = ScrOG and it doesn't. What you end up with is a shit load of lower popcorn because light doesn't penetrate the canopy, a higher chance of PM and bud rot due to lack of airflow and possibly reduced yield.

Also I wouldn't bother with the flush every third watering in coco. Feed a light feeding all the time. Increase if they need it. But flushing coco your going to starve them. They look like they could do with more feed as they are a bit pale.
As long as you water with some run off you shouldn't have salt build up. The size they are now in the pots they are in I wouldn't water more than every third day until they grow a lot more.

Very cool! Will be following along. Similar to my grow, I have 4 plants in a 4x4, with a 1000w and I am scroging. Been working great for me.
9 plants in that area is more of a sog than a scrog. Just because you out a net in there does not make it a scrog, just plants with a trellis for support. To scrog you want to train the branches of the plants under the screen to fill an entire tent from wall to wall, your plants will hit each other before you can actually do much training. I do think you should top once though, it's nice to full out the area alittle better and utilize the light more. It also helps you get closer to your genetic potential for the plants, in addition you are also at about the perfect age for the first top. You will want to defoliate for sure though or else mold could deffenitly be an issue.

I've almost filled my whole 4x4 screen in about a month and half of veg now with the 4 plants. I topped them twice each. The big issue I've had is watering all the way in the back with the screen in the way.

I'm gonna follow along as well. I'm doing a similar grow now. 9 plants in a 4x4 tent. 8 in 5 gal smartpots 1 in a 2 gal plastic container I'm going to relocate out side. I had some problems with it and never topped it and had to keep in a smaller container. Day 30 from seed - topped All but the one the middle (just so I can we a wee comparison test when it comes to harvest) 4 days ago all healed and slowly starting to see that double shoot planning to veg for another month I think.

Coco can be watered everyday or multiple times a day.

Yeah but i like the manual labour... I just water every 4 - 5 day. Still wet an inch under the top layer of coco even on 4th day so everyday would be too much. But thanks

Did you add perlite? It will help with aeration if you didn't maybe next time remember to, the more you water and give nute , the faster and bigger they grow in coco.

No I had perlite when I done my first grow in soil and I wasn't too keen on it. But not tried it with coco. I have smart pots so no problem with aeration. But good shout might invest in some for my next grow. What to do you usually go with 20% perlite?

I personally like 50/50 or 60% coco and 40% perlite, and go ham on the watering/nutes coco is meant to be a hydroponics substitute if you buy high grade coco , this is the kind i use, http://growershouse.com/gold-label-coco-50-liter

that perlite is really chunky, it works good with that coco i have used them together with advanced nutrients, and general hydroponic 3 part with amazing results.

This is the stuff in using at the moment. Worked really well for me last time . Canna Coco professional Medium... will definitely try some perlite for the next grow though so if makes much a difference because atm it's just holding the water for way too long . Thanks again

Am using perlite n coco. My first time. Don't get too relaxed on your feed schedule. Coco can dry out very quickly as the plant matures. You should be feeding at least once a day with a good amount of run off.

That would be seriously over watering if it was at least once a day. Have you grown with coco before ? Considering the size of the plants and the pots they are in that would destroy mine anyway

Im watering every 3rd day now and tbh it still doesnt even need that much water. It retains the water for that long
