I have a Swiss Army knife and a straw packed with charcoal ....haven't done much planning beyond that .....guess if I theoretically owned lots awesome guns and grew cannabis on my ranch in the middle of nowhere ...I could always barter crops ......but since I'm actually just a poor unarmed tomato farmer .....my Swiss army knife and my custom mcdonalds survival straw will have to do .......but I think a black dildo is a must.

For whatever reason, people have prioritized ammunition when doing their disaster prep. It is necessary to have ammo, but some people have WAY more than they need. Look at what happened recently with the supply of .22 LR!

That's just stupid.
I remember back in the 90s when it was hard to find primers for handloading -- because hoarders had bought out all of the stores. Supposedly Bill Clinton was going to ban primers, which was total bullshit.
I wouldn't be surprised if the NRA had something to do with it...

I have two and a half 50cal ammo boxes of 22lr, about 10 thousand rounds. :oops:

Will an EMP kill a points type distributor? I didn't think it would. I have my mid 90s, all mechanical, diesel truck, doesn't need any electrics to run. I bought it, partially, for this scenario. 4wd, solid axles, manual transmission, runs on just about any fuel oil.. I'll point it into the woods and wait. I'm trying to find a recoil starter, uses a ratchet to crank a big ass clock spring to start the truck, then I'll be 100% mechanical. With a little work I think I have room to mount a starter on both sides on the motor, one electric, one crank.

That's fine, until that time it doesn't start and now your on flat ground. Been there. It's no fun pushing a car, then having to run to jump in and pop the clutch. I did it once with a friends Camaro. I don't think I could do it with my truck. I pushed it probably 20-30 feet up my driveway once and I barely got past a crawl.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. We went through 300rds in under an hour with my buddy's .45 last time we went shooting. I would think 1000rds of .22 a day would just be a fun day. Probably wouldn't be plinking like that anymore if this happened.

You can really trick out a 10/22. I'm gonna get one to go plinking with. And have fun modding it.

It also don't work so good with high compression engines . Or in wet conditions .
Mostly I was being a smart ass.

However, ammo always has value as a barter commodity as well. Ex: I have 2 20 gauge shotguns that I haven't used in 20+yrs, along with close to 1500 rounds. Not hurting anything sitting around, the money was spent years ago and I don't need it now. So, it 's "money in the bank". If said dire scenario occurs, I won't recoup the $$ on one of the shotguns(too fancy Italian upland style), but will get it all back and more with the other and ammo. Silver lining as it were
