Hello all.

This is my first grow in just over 2 years.
My last grow had some issues where I had to leave it for a while. heat became a issue and I ended up with hermies.

So now 2 years later I decided to do a grow and used the same tent the hermies were in, I thought nothing of it because I was under the impression the pollen would have died during the 2 years...... But now my females have been pollenated!!

I have a ak48 auto, and a northern lights auto and they have 10-20% brown hairs (yep imagine my face) :finger:  :wall: :cuss::cuss::cuss:

I knew what It meant.. so I chopped a calyx and surprise surprise there are seeds forming, so I went searching for the little f**kers who are responsible for ruining my beautiful sensi..... No where !... I checked and checked and got my x40 microscope, then checked again and nothing ! No balls or bananas.

And just to add insult to injury I have 2 sin tra bajo in the same tent in pre-flower just waiting to be pollenated.

So long story short is there any way what so ever the pollen could have lived that long ?

Thanks, and sorry for the rant

I dont think that there is any real study that can prove it either way but I personally would suspect not. There has been a "rash" if you will of hermaphrodite plants turning up. Much more now than before so I would suspect inferior genetics due to poor quality control from the high demand of production. I am having issues where there has never been any before. I do grow a strain that hermies and I know this and I grow it any way because it is super stony and medicinal. Soo worth letting her impregnate herself and her sisters lmfao

Unlikely the 2 year old pollen angle but anything's possible. I don't trust pollen older than 6 months and that's storing it in the freezer. I've used 7 month old pollen and got nothing, but there are a lot of variables. Not sure anyone can answer the question 100%.

If there was left over pollen in a tent that hadn't been used in 2 years, and op didn't clean the tent in that time, it's a well deserved lesson in gardening practices.

It's just really confusing.. I have had hermies before so I know what to look for, the grow area is a new location to the last and the only thing that is the same is the tent... I just can't get my head around it

I have checked twice again and there is still no balls or bananas, as mentioned I have e had them before so I know what to look for, even when they have popped you can make out the sack which held the pollen.... As mad as it sounds I have noplination on how it's happened

Yeah, don't you sanitize, ever? Once a year I pull all fans and ducting. It's amazing the sheet i find in the pipe's. (Outside in & out pipes)

Inside the spaces gets mopped and wiped down 4 times a yr or more whenever the room is manageable logistically in count.
I would normally use iso alcohol and water after each grow but I planned a big break after my last batch of hermies.. and my prior knowledge was that after about 10-14 days of sitting around the pollen was useless but obviously I was wrong.

If it was dry enough and cool enough, sure.
Well after the last grow the tent got collapsed, put back in its carry bag and was not going to be used again......but then street weed started to become a problem and j could not use it medicinally because it was a case of take what they had..and what they had was dirt
