I think there's some truth in it, just a matter of selective breeding. Before all you lucky folks became legal and had medical cards and such it was all about creating the highest thc strain they could to win some cup.
There's been strong strains for a long time. now there are some even stronger.
Your right about the refer madness though, it always pains me to read a national paper over here, every time it feels like we are getting closer to been legal some tosser writes an article about super skunk sending our children mental (Like anyone smokes super skunk these days) Then no politician dare speak up for legalisation.

some of my fam were baccy farmers in Tenn. never worked there though. its illegal to sell baccy shredded here in MI you know that?
I have an established market for bundled though, just waiting for the right time to pull the trigger. I'm so busy, so old, so tired these days.

That would be close to where I cut tobacco. I actually cut some in TN.

I'm sure that small tobacco grows are better than large scale operations.

But the hybrids I grow now have a good amount of the old high and a good amount of a Medical buzz too.

I've never known what it is to grow legal.

I spent many a year growing brick and bag seed. I've spent The last number of years growing all the popular strains and I still find myself going back and growing landrace strains.

As I said there is a little truth to it for various reasons.

I will also say that thc is not the only thing that matters. Ive found most of the newer high thc strains lacking something. When people breed for thc alone something is lost and the buzz is not as good.

I will say that there are studies that have been done on cannabis potency. A big one done by university of Mississippi.

They tested samples over the last 20 years. Its shows thc has risen from 3.8 to about 12 percent the in 2012.

What does that mean? Nothing really. First the samples were old. There also different ways to test for thc.

Then you have to look at what people were getting back then. Mostly early cut brick.

Indoor high quality cannabis is more available now.

I smoked pot for the first time over 20 years ago. That shit would make you see tracers. Highly psychoactive. I've been looking for it since.

Humans have been using pot for thousands of years.

I have seen tracers and gotten into laughing fits on ch9 plants often.

Smoke on one of Mrs MMG's edibals and sometimes trip out more.

Find classic strains like mr nice g-13 / Skunk to get a strong taste of both of those skunks. I had a dank room filling skunky girl recently.

I have had phenos with strong resemblances to those I remember in high school from ch9 often.

Better to hunt in a classic strain for the pheno than to hope someone's new cross will have what you're looking for.

Ill have to check ch9 out.

In my experience we can only hope to find something similar. The original plant is gone so breeders that pick phenos to move forward rather than hope to copy the past end up with better highs and flavors I believe.

There will always be something added and taken away.

It has been almost 12 years since I had the black market Skunk 6 in Colorado. That was the real deal. I was caught smoking outside a home office I lived at and it was hours later. The stench was still out at the porch.

I didn't believe him. This was in frisco up high in the mountains. But it sure stunk like a skunk out there still.

They would never share that cut. You could be killed trying to acquire it.

Like the real sour diesel they sold in the city in New York and was available in New Jersey. 2 hits and I couldn't find my way home in my own neighborhood. The sour diesel hybrids I have now only remind me of that. But they include a strong body buzz and pain spasm relief. The original did not.

They do however take very little to get high and last for more than a few hours. And I get high every time I smoke.

Took some time and practice but I get very full complex effects, smells and flavors now.

I get fill flavor and all that. Its the reason I grow organic. There are certain things to use for that.

I got some strains lined up supposed to be straight out of the 80's.

I'm going to give them a try.

Try "deep cheese" from dinafem. Its the smelliest damn plant I ever grew.

I had a real nice Dinachem. It was really potent and tasty. Smelled just like the guava chem they claim.

But a flat high. Nothing like what I am talking about. overbred for stability I guess. Potent but flat and boring.

And adding things or organics is not what helps pot get to potential. no one could tell the difference consistently between organic and chemical in out blind tests. Both were good. No one including me got it right every time.

Good healthy grow with no deficiencies and keeping them healthy to when they are truly finished always yields the best flowers. Regardless of method.

I do believe that plants need more trace elements than originally thought and that a little blue and uv was in the spectrum will definitely help quality.
