Seeds vs. Clones

I've grown from seed for years is it worth it to try clones? The better plants comes from seeds? The seeds are more hassle but fuller plants with more yield?

I'm trying to decide of on what to buy for $150 I can get two 12 pack of seeds or 6 clones at $25 each at the local dispensary. Last grow I got 1 pack of 12 seeds only got 6 plants and only 3 was female. If I get clones the bigger the better?

Clones is the way to go if/when you find a strain you really like. Clones are free and with regular feminized seeds retailing at $10+ per seed that is important if dealing with any volume. Clones are faster. I veg my seedlings and clones both until they are 20-24 inches when they get moved to flower room. Takes seedlings 5-7 weeks from first going into dirt to 20-24 inches. Clones take 3-5 weeks to reach the same size. Clones are imperative to maintain a perpetual grow because they all take the same amount of time to mature. Means you can plan ahead better on when to move and/or harvest plants. Just a couple reasons to clone.

Female seeds give you 100% female. And if you buy from a respectable seed source and you know what you are doing you should get 100% success at sprouting them. Where are you getting your seeds?

I've been buying from Nirvana Seed Shop and The Attitude and always have 100% success rate with female seeds purchased thru them.

Buy some different strains of clones and use them as your mother plants to make more clones so you'll never have to buy more. Buy two of each then you can flower one of each to get you some bud quicker.

You don't need an expensive cloner either. I got a small rubbermaid tub with an airstone in it that works fine. Total cost around $20.

That's another route. Take some clones off the plants that grow, flower the mothers and once you've sampled what the produce save the best clones to be new mothers and clone off those.

If you go with seeds don't buy them from the same place/breeder. 50% germination is BS.
If you go with clones, treat them for bugs & disease before putting them in your grow space.

I would say get seeds,

Grow them out,

Keep couple good phenos as your mother
And take clones of her

I only have one 4x4 tent and I only grow in the winter one or two grows and smoke all year. I'm going to get the clones they're a sure thing and less trouble. The clones I'll treat just like seedlings start with about 300 ppms of nutrients...

Yeah 50% I suspect they're old seeds with no date on them this is why I'm going to try clones less hassle sure thing. I treat my plants with azamax when they're young it's a lot easier to be safe than sorry.

Check very closely for any kind of bug infestation. And treat as a preventive when moved into tent well before flower would be my number 1 advice.

Seeds will all ways be Stronger ,because there the first Generation, from that Strain.But most of my growing is done with Clones.Has long has you Have nice healthy Clones, then they will all ways do ok,There is not much difference in Growth Rate,I'm doing a side by side grow of clones and seedlings at the minute ,so keep a eye on my journal,Its all about timing .Get the seedlings going, the day you take the Clones,and you will find that grown side by side they will grow pretty uniform,2 weeks to root the clones ,By this time the seedlings will just be starting there second set of true leaves.I will post pictures later .I never get clones from a out side source ,un less i know the grower has no problems with any mites ext ,The clones i use are all ways kept sep, for a while if there from a out side source,Once i see there is no problems with them they go in the t5 room

I'm going to a nice dispensary in Ann Arbor they should be top quality and ready to go! I could get them off Craigslist for $10-$20 each but people have gotten ripped off with cuttings that were just cut and stuck in the dirt a few minute before they got it by the time they realized it the dude was gone with the money!

See this was the missing information I was waiting for get clones. If you are doing a winter run and clones are at six inches to put them in a five gallon bucket.
Veg for three weeks and flip. It's slim to get in two runs... Say Dec 21 you flip. Feb 28 you take down.. March 7 start - may 14th take down..
Get clones assap, time always slips by.

Order 6 for $10 each and tell him or her to pull one in front of you,But stick to some one that you know ,that know what there talking about,There was Someone selling Fishing hemp, has seeds of strains in the uk ,where i'm from at one point,Just Copied the Packaging of well know companies and sold them has there seeds,This happens a lot in Blackpool and Skegvagas in the uk in the Markets,I must admit they did look like the real deal,Even tga was on the table at the market in Skegness ,Greenhouse.I got talking to one of the guys that worked down there he said it was fishing Hemp,The fuckers sold a good few too,The germination rate of that hemp is really high too ,Germinated it several times, even put some out for the birds ,And when i went out in the summer,The bird table had little seedlings growing all over it.I make stuff from hemp seed.Hemp infused oils,Even tried Flour from it at one point,I was thinking ,that it may have high levels of CBD ,though if that is true i would run a few,They say it can not be germinated ,that is rubbish,You can buy a 25 kg bag of it for a cheapish price,But im gonna look into the cbd bit more.Now you got me thinking forgot about that,its something i set out to do a few year ago.But got put on the back burner

Imo get the seeds from a dispensary, the only clones I've ever seen for around that price have been treated with eagle 20 and came with mites. However if the place you're getting them from has a good reputation you may have better luck. Usually I end up spending $50+ on a clone of a "name brand" strain at the store here.

Just my .02, but keep in mind I also like looking for phenos so I may be biased.

Edit:it looks like you're going to genotype in aa, which is a great spot, grab the clones if you'd prefer. I've never had an issue with theirs. Beware of most Detroit dispensaries though.

Hmmmm I'll have to try that, always thought my clones were faster to develop, the one thing that is faster with clones is flowering start after flip due to the maturity factor IMO.
