I own a hydro/growshop how can I be of assistance?

Someone made an interesting point yesterday.

The feed chart recommendations are made for 1000w lights, and if you’re using 600w or 400w that you should dial back accordingly.

If I mixed up H&G at their recommendation, I’d be over 2000ppm.
ppm is a poor measurement because the only way to calculate ppm of an unknown solution is thru chemical analysis. all ppm meters measure EC then convert using one of many scales. EC is a better measurement because 1 EC will always be 1 EC no matter what. depending if your ppm meter is x500, x640/650, x700 or many more you will have different results.

i.e. 2EC could either be 1000ppm, 1300ppm, or 1400ppm depending on your ppm meter and which conversion factor it uses. also different nutrient companies use different conversion factors depending if they are european, american, australian etc.

it depends on which salt your nutrients use: The ppm 700 scale is based on measuring the KCl or potassium chloride content of a solution. The ppm 500 is based on measuring the NaCl or sodium chloride content

here is a list showing which companies use which conversion

are you directing this to me?
yes

I see. That’s all I do too. It was the way you said no stretch that was confusing.
some plants grow taller or longer than others in the same space, stretching happens when I'm punishing a plant and set it off to the side when she's young, away from the light, or a baby on he floor instead of up on a bucket for a bit...least thats how I see it.

yes sir I do. I bend/twist/tie is all. Easier than fucking around with lights and temps and such, only to find that causes more issues. I've also grown some sativas that will not get along well with me, my habits or my space, go figure.
My 1st sativa grow a while back. Didn't go well. Look forward to trying it for the 2nd time. I'll be more prepared. Bigger pots for sure next time lol.

Just got back from the hydro store, where I checked my pH pen. My 15 dollar pH pen from Amazon.

After seeing a post from @Dynamo626 , I was sure that I had fucked up everything with my pH pen that after using it, I’d wipe with a towel, blow on it, set it on the sink to dry, and then put the cap on it. I was just going to buy a new pen, and they hydro store would keep it calibrated upon request.

Well, my 15 dollar Amazon pen tested “incredibly accurate” when checked in the stores pH calibration rig. And they will always happily check the pen anytime for me.

We talked in the store for a bit about my problems, with no conclusion.

I’m more fucked up than ever now. Lulz.

Check this ‘thing’ I harvested this week. HELP!!!
I’m not doing this to end up with this result.

Dude in the hydro store thought it might just be a ‘dud’ plant.

It’s a clone Holy Grail OG.

Seems to me this is the way my plants finish after week 5-6 of flower.

I think you got salt build up in your medium from over nute, looks like you have burns, what is your nutrient regiment?

I’ll call them and get some samples in the shop. Thanks for the advice.
I got my free sample today.
Packaging is super important for dry nutes that contain calcium. Megacrop comes in a mylar bag, which is perfect.
Sore it’s family time. I will reply tomorrow. Yes CO2 is worth it but are you a master grower?
What is a "master grower"? I've heard that term several times & have no idea what it means.
  • Years of experience?
  • Master of many strains?
  • Master of all types of plants?
  • Master of hydro?
  • Master of organic soil?
etc...

My definition if you previously read mine is someone who is succeeding as the grower in a large cultivation facility. I'm curious what his definition is, if it is similar.
In my version I would count these as irrelevant:
  • Years of experience?
  • Master of many strains?
  • Master of all types of plants?
  • Master of hydro?
  • Master of organic soil?

House and Garden.
I’ve been mixing it to half of recommended, and never once fed this plant at 1500ppm or above.

1500 ppm is 3.0 ec. That is about double the strength I ever feed plants in soil or potting mix.

Try half that. And try just a complete base 1 or 2 part nute so you can learn how and when to fertilize properly. That’s what I did after learning to burn and or yellow my plants first.

I moniter ec in and out every water/feed. When I see the ec rising above what I am feeding I leach the pot with fresh water.

You can see the salt buildup in the drain holes and eventually on top of the now crusty whitish covered soil.

I like to feed light every watering once the soil is depleted of nutrients. Like 400-600ppm max flowering. Tapered up in strength to peak flowering and tapered back down during ripening.

If I see leaf stress or other salt buildup signs I simply give water only until next time. If I over feed I will run through more water until the runoff clears out a bit.

I don't mean irrelevant just mean it is a term for a successful grower in a large facility even if he is growing hydro or organic or only grows a handful of strains well.

Master grower. Someone who understands the plants biology. Can swich between media strains and nutrients without problem. When other gardeners are privleged enough to see it in person they are in awe.
I don't agree with can change between media and nutrients without problem.
IMO if someone is succeeding in a large hydroponic cultivation facility, they are a Master Grower regardless of their ability to switch to say organic soil growing.

I thought it meant you got a certain number of likes on your YouTube channel. :-)
Another example I think but I may be wrong.
If someone is an expert with the GH3 for many years and grows in a 20,000 sq ft facility. He is a Master Grower even if he has little experience with other nutrients. Just my opinion. :peace:
