Hello all,
Long time lurker and new poster. I'd like to share with you all some poppies I have seen growing in a yard not too far from my own. I have also seen that they have a nice hydroponic set up as well.
The ones growing outside were planted in September and are doing pretty well. The one in the red pot got a little too much water and has started showing signs of over watering i.e. Yellow, brittle leaves, etc. The poppies in the small plots are doing great and are looking very healthy. The biggest one in the red pot is about to hit the bolt stage.
The hydroponic grow is about 6 weeks into it and the plants are just about ready for their final culling. There are six net pots filled with hydrocorn, sitting in a 18 gallon Rubbermaid tote. At the bottom of the tote is a nice big air stone and some fox farms nutrients in the water now (about half strength). The lights are nothing special, they are 4ft fluorescent lights (one blue and one yellow) so that they get all light color on the spectrum (warm light and "cool" light). They are on a 14/10 light schedule and are set on a timer.
The whole hydroponic set up only cost a whopping $50 dollars and could be set up in a small closet. The strain of poppies growing are Persian whites and are said to contain a lot of goodies (alkaloids; morphine and codeine being the most available). The whole grow should take around 3-4 months probably yielding 60-80 pods. good for a $50 set up in a closet.
Thank you all! And I'd greatly appreciate any advice/constructive criticism that you may have. I look forward to becoming a valuable member of rollitup! Happy nodding
