mogie, here's a somewhat more refined version of the old soldering iron vapouriser.
I built this one in Jan, 2000.
Calibrated the dial with an electronic thermometer.

This vapouriser is the same as the one you linked, but things are mounted a bit more solidly and temp can be controlled.
Built on a cast aluminum project box. A soldering iron element is bolted to the top of the box through a steel pickle jar lid with common hardware. An incandescent light dimmer is used to vary the temp of the element. The cone/bowl is a stainless steel thimble with a hole drilled in it, bolted to the end of the iron element. The 'dome' is a pickle jar. A length of 10mm dia tubing is used to draw the vapour. Rubber feet are needed as air intake holes are on the bottom of the box.
I actually still have this thing somewhere, but never liked using it much.
