Hey guys


Managed to sort out space for a 2x2 which I am hoping use a QB 135w.

I need everything to fit in the tent and be quite quiet.

What height do you think I will need the tent to be to fit everything in?

This is my equipment list and I was hoping to fit in a 5,4 which is 160cm

I have done some thinking and if my plant grows to 65cm then it won't work.

Do you guys use really tall spaces or train the plants to remain low? If so what technique and what do they grow to in height?

I know I need 18'' between light and canopy.

125mm KSA acoustic box fan with temp controller and speed controller

150mm rhino pro carbon filter


Not sure on what pot size I should use. Was thinking of doing one big auto to begin with.

My thinking is

27cm for pot
65cm plant
45cm from light and canopy
5cm QB
10cm space between light and fan/filter
30cm fan filter

Total: 182cm and that's with small plant
How do you do it if you have lower height?

Sorry to write it out like this but I can't mess it up and want to start in early march. Any help is greatly appreciated as I am determined to use QBs.

For mag troubles only I sometimes use a little bit of epsom salts. A little goes a long way though. Only have had to do that a couple times but the difference was noticeable within a couple days.

The 135w QB setup will serve you far better than a 150w, or even 250w HPS. As for your height issue - you could begin LST'ing the plants early on, or SCROG (or both). I see no reason that you shouldn't be able to use a 5 foot tall tent. You may want to put your ventilation and filtration (assuming you're planning to use such) outside the tent to gain more headroom.

Edit: FYI, those kits actually top out at around 150-160 watts at the wall. Many here recommend keeping it at 150w or less.

trying to make a "qb" with samsung F light strips. should this be wired in series or parallel?

Also, does distance from plant to LED matter as much as with HID (since heat with LED is lower)?

I dont recall the exact recommendations for light height distance but i recall seeing the numbers 12in and 24in and some numbers in between like 16in and 18in. Any suggestions?

Is it a good idea to drop the height to like 8 inches so theres "more light" for a segment of plants so i can increase the "wattage" per sqft and increase yield that way?

lastly. suggestions on drivers?

Been using epsom salt with limited improvement. Been dealing with temp swings too.

Low Ph from too much ph down might be the issue.

Next time I have a mag issue I am going to try a foliar spray for sure. Amended into dirt last time, had a good 3-4 day turn around on the issue. I know addressing plant issues sooner than later help out way more than waiting too long (not saying 3-4 days is long but it is quite a bit of time in terms of the plants life cycle).

How much epsom per gallon of water? How low of PH? I am still learning but I have threads bookmarked that have shown me things I thought I had a decent understanding of into new knowledge.

Just started using epsom foliar feed. Soil has lime and i sometimes top dress lightly with epsom. Plants are under 125 watts of Cree and Phillips Led bulbs, 5000k.

All plants in veg are showing some level mag deficiencies, some more than others. But 2 are showing signs of calcium deficiencies which is why I'm leaning towards ph issues. Its a particularly finicky sour purp type strain that I've been trying to dial in. Last time i ran that one barely made thru flower, but after a mere 1 week cure the taste was just magnificent.

With the last watering i hit two of my plants with some plain ph'ed water with a splash of fresh coconut water. I've read good things about coconut water being a good source of K and Mag for plants.

Molasses is a great potassium source that most are unaware of and I also have 30 lbs of slow burned oak ash for K and micros.
