Yeah, but if a thread has been inactive since 2010 and none of the members posting in it have been active since 2011... why reopen it?

I agree, a newb may not even see a date, and it may piss off other members, but from the standpoint of a money making forum closing a thread like this, disallowing more postings, (including even others bitching about the old thread), posts make money.
closing threads reduces the amount of money made. why again?

Just start a new thread! at least it will be current.
I agree, from the experienced posters' point of view. can you imagine 20 new threads daily about how to water my plant?
a newb uses google. an old thread may be subject of his query or thoughts.
having old subjects lying around to post on in creases traffic= more looks at advertisements, more money.
funny thing is when a newb asks a dumb q often they're sent to an old thread to resurrect.

Yes but times change, growing teniches change, and nute formulae's change. Allot changes over the years making old threads obsilete. How many times a week do we get a noob asking about potential yield from their seedlings?

A forum is an open dialogue of discussion closing all our old threads is a crap response to our members

We close threads when they’re breaking rules

A newb resurrects an old thread and people jump all over them, a newb starts a new thread and people jump all over them for not using the search function because there are a million threads on it already. Just can’t win lol.
