2 x The Philips 315w bulbs are better than 1x DE 630w bulb because Philips put it into perspective with making the 315w bulb, the single ceramic arc tube will not fail in the one bulb where as in the DE 630w bulb one of the two ceramic arc tubes could possibly dull out or fail before the other one, but I think this may happen if you over use it by it’s sell by date, Philips are a better and bigger company than the rest that manufacture the 315w or DE 630w CMH bulbs, in the DE 630w the 2 x ceramic arc tubes are not really meant to be in a DE bulb but it does work, but the life span of the DE bulb is 8,000 to 10,000 MAX, where as the 315w bulbs from Philips last 20,000hrs or more, and the quality of the light is a better quality because of the gasses and halides inside the ceramic arcs from the Philips bulbs, but with that being said there is not much in it between them both for quality and yield of product, they are not a million miles apart! the DE 630w will deffenenly stand up to 2 x Philips 315w for quality and yield , and for the price of a DE 630w bulb it is a lot cheaper than buying 2 x Philips bulbs so you can change your DE bulb out every 12 to 14 months and it will work out roughly the same if you change your 2 x 315w bulbs out every 24 to 28 months,
Me personally I would advise using 2 to 3 x Philips 315w in a 3’ x 6’ or 2 to 3 x 630w DE CMH in a 4’ x 8’ for better penetration.
There is a market for both lights and they are both amazing because we are talking about CMH here the spectrum and UV on both the Philips 315w bulbs and the DE 630w bulbs are amazing.
The 630w DE CMH is closely matched to a DE Gavita 750w or a SE 1000w HPS
The DE 630w CMH gives off less heat and a better spectrum than the DE Gavita 750w and you will get a better quality product from your DE 630w CMH so it’s a no brainier really.
