got my manure all chopped down to a rough potting soil consistency.

got all my stuffed gathered up except for some hay to mulch around the plant. will hop on the 4-wheeler and go get some. that will also take all of 5 mins.

so i wanna buy some liquid fence deer/rabbit repellent from amazon, but for today, i have gathered the following:

black pepper
cayenne pepper
peppermint essential oil
camphor essential oil
menthol essential oil
pure capsaicin oil

plan on sprinkling around the plant.

would you all recommend creating a spray also?

in the next few hours i should wear myself out digging some holes and planting plants... :bigjoint:
That is awesome. Yeah I bought some liquid fence myself. ;)
Don't forget to fertilize the manure same as you would soil ;)
I'm excited for you

thanks.

just spent the last 2.5 hours digging, toting, burying, top coating and sweating !!!! lol... to be honest i had about 10-12 gallons worth of manure, could have used double that for my 4 little 1 gallon plants. i did not have enough manure to cover the whole root ball, but at least half on each one and 4-5 inches underneath.

then i finished filling in the holes with the rather rich wet dirt on the side of the creek. i put at least 2-3 inches of peat/perlite on top of the dirt and then finished the top coat with some hay.

each plant got at least 5 gallons to drink after transplant. a rope, a 5 gallon bucket and i am not toting any water, except pulling it out of the creek.

when i was finished, i went back to each plant and sprinkled cayenne and black pepper all the way around, then i dripped camphor, mentol, peppermint and capsaicin oils all the way around. still got the capsaicin on my hands after washing and showering  and all i touched was the outside of the bottle and glass dropper.:fire::fire::fire:

it took me 3 trips to carry it all in to a central location. from there i took individual trips to each site. was able to carry it all out in one trip.

i have pictures of it all. will post them up a little later.

EDIT: have the happy frog bulb fertilizer and epsoma garden tone in my amazon cart. will order it next week.

A buddy acquired some land this last year up in Shasta County and we have been prepping and planning on growing there this summer. Its time we fill our smart pots and get these babies in the ground this weekend. Hes an old timer from Fiji who has been around MaryJane for a few years. He insists on growing in straight up cow manure, no soil or natural dirt mixed in. I told him hes crazy and that the clones will fry up in a matter of weeks, which then makes this whole grow a waste of my time and money. But hes so hardheaded he doesnt want to believe it and his reasoning is "Ive been doin it this way for years"... (No way hes ever done it, hes being a cheap f*cker).

Im posting this to get all the feedback possible to this dumb idea so i can show him this and if he decides to proceed in this route then i can walk away knowing its not my problem anymore. Hey, if it does work, let me know so i can shut up and continue working.

Release the wrath of grow knowledge.

P.S. the natural dirt of our property is the red clayish type dirt you see down in Redding... (not grow approved i assume)
Also the manure he wants to use is those basic white/yellow steer manure bags you can find at Lowes.

Thanks for your guys help.
Why won't it work?

It will work just fine. Especially if he has enough to fill a bunch of smart pots. Means he's been saving it up. Means it's composted. Even if it's not cow manure isn't that hot. Keep the ratio of fresh manure low.

transplanting

these plants were destined to be culled since i have healthy clones of each already. these are all female and all at least 5 months old. they don't look so great, but moving outdoors from a 1 gallon pot should help them a ton.

they would have been flowered indoors, but my hydro system is back up and healthy.

@Sour Wreck, looking good in the great outdoors. If you get rain every week or two, you will be amazed at what they will do, mostly on their own.
thanks

we are scheduled to get a some rain this week.

as long as it's not a deluge, i should be ok...

i actually slipped back over there today. the temptation to see if they were still ok was too much. they looked exactly as i left them, lol...

probably won't make it back over there until friday or saturday. they should be establishing themselves by then.

hoping for NO huge rainstorms this year. in fact these locations may not be good. 3 inches of rain may swamp them

If the rain doesn't come, try to water a little bit every other day for the first week. After that they are good to go most of the time. I gave mine a quart per plant 3-4 times the week after transplant. They didn't miss a beat.

that was my plan, but i think a little rain is gonna save me the trips.

as you can see, right now, i have unlimited water at each location. if the roots can take off a bit that will help since the edge of the creek is pretty moist where the roots are.

thought about hiding my 5 gallon bucket out there but i carried it home and will probably continue to do so.

At one of my hiking spots where I tried to grow, I hid a large {green} coffee container with a length of cord to get down the 10 feet to the creek. I moved water in contractor bags. They will last until they get a hole in them. lol

thanks man.

this is an experiment for me. my stash is grown indoors...

but some nice outdoor would be sweet
yeah I am all indoor atm as well, but if I could grow a tree or two ... dam...having that much raw material to work with... hash, shatter, dabs, edibles... so many possibilities. Not to mention then could make a TON of RSO for peeps I know in need. Will have to see what my clones/seedlings are looking like in a few weeks and see if I can find an easy close source of aged manure.... then see if I can get the balls to go outside and not freak out every time i hear a low flying plane lol
