Coco 3 week old in trouble

Even a rocket scientist knows how to spell coco. At three weeks old I feed full strength and never have nute burn or build up, and I have never checked my run off for ppm's - I don't even own a meter. Although I don't feed full strength until 3 weeks, if you know anything about the Lucas formula, KISS, or Hempy's, full strength is recommended from start to finish. I don't give advice to people when I don't positively know the answer from hands on experience. You don't grow in coco brother.
Like I said leave it to the experts. But it's stupid to think that lock out will not occur especially with Coco coir if you are using pure Coco coir it is high in potassium:dunce: but hey what do I know:hump:

I must be stupid and lucky then because I've been growing in coco for over 5 years and never had a lock out. But hey, what do I know. :hump:

Girls, you're both pretty, but do either of you have good solid advice on the ops problem? i originally told him to let it dry out a little between waterings because i thought he had some root issues that could benefit from a little extra air. i got told i was an asshat, but of course none of the people telling me that had any good suggestions.
600 ppm does seem a little high for plants that small, but i think mick actually suggested cutting that in half, which is the first good suggestion i've seen in this whole thread (including my own, unfortunately)...i'm still not sure what the real problem is, never seen a plant turning black down at the base of new growth like that

Hi Guus, thanks doe the replies.

Second time in coco, but started previous in nutrient rich soil. Had great succes then.

Problem is im growing outside. No lights.
Had terrible weather 12 degree Celsius and no Sun at all. They were behind glass so inside was 20 degrees and 65% hum.

The coco hardly dries so it's difficult to read how wet they really are. (I weigh them and their weight goes down terribly slow)

I fed them 500-600 ppm with 140 ppm being tap so 350-450 ppm nutrients.

Did this every 3 days at 6.0 ph with good runoff.

They are stretched but I can't help that if the Sun doesn't shine for 10 days. (Netherlands sucks)

I understand I need to water them more, but daily while they are still soaking? I'm scared I'll get root root and bugs.

Probably need to up my nutes if I'm only watering every 2-3 days.

Suggestions?
hey man,

Those things just seem to be growing in an environment not conducive to marijuana. Netherlands got so good at hydro because the weather sucks, right? I'd say virtually an indoor light would get them healthier. Then maybe transplant outside when more robust? I've grown plants on windowsill, but it's really just aesthetics, it'll grow, but not really able to bear fruit.

But in general.. Have you considered planting a seed in soil and just getting into the habit of watching a plant grow successfully without being the sole source of it's perfect feed every feed, when this is your first grow? Soil isn't as sexy as hydro these days, (which coco essentially is, semantics aside,) but there's no "huge hydroponic yields" at the end unless you're really dialed in. Quite the opposite. If your environment isn't good and you don't really know what you're doing, hydro can be a killer, could spend the next 6 months staring at various little yellow plants wondering what bottle to either blame or find the answer to. Fun science experiment, but what if you got some good soil, chop it with perlite, and get some experience watching a marijuana plant actually grow, hopefully flower? I use a mostly hydro blend, but so many people jump straight into hydro, coco, dwc first time with building experience of getting used to the plant... That's my advice man, get a couple soil grows under your belt, let God do the heavy lifting. The experience, if you want to do coco after a successful soil grow, you wont feel nearly as bewildered as now.

Hey guys,

thanks for all the tips.

My first grow went excellent so thought I would do coco again.

This time its not working out, im going to cut nutes but whats a good ppm when my tap water is 140 ppm? (high on cal/mag)

Im only watering when needed now, not daily anymore.

Could magnesium have anything to do with it?

Do you guys understand why im so confused? If its burning the plants how can they be so pale? going yellow and even white.

I have burned my plants before, they would go dark green and the tips would go up and brown.

Now they are going yellow and tips fold down and inward.

Canna suggest an ec of 1.0-1.5 so I thought I was well in that range. I understand plant decides what it wants but I just dont understand how they are being burned :/

Most likely the burn is being caused by lockout. When there is an abundance of one nutrient it can lock out others that's why they look like deficiencies.

Again, just the overall climate. They look so stressed. You said they are outside? Or on a window sill? How cold do they get? When you say it went excellent last time, how much different was it from this? What's different?

Seriously, if you just brought it indoors and got a 250 watt, or t5s, or anything really, I bet it'd be 10x better. You don't have a corner to do that in, at least while they are young?

Ok, any idea what ppm would be safe?

Outside but under a roof at night. It had dropped below 50 at night this week.

Last time they grew to 3 ft had no nute problems only some pests. decent yield with terrible weather.

It's illegal here and my wife wont let me do it.

outdoor is legal if I keep it under 5 plants

Lack of light is also a big issue as pirate said. If you don't have enough light there is no way it's going to use all those nutrients.
