Please help with my babies!

G'day guys, how are we all? I do hope I have posted in the right place. It's a very big site with lots of forums!
Anyways...
As you can see, my babies seem to look like they are struggling. I did water them less then 5 minutes prior to the photos.
Is it me or do they have a red tinge on the edges of the leaves? The light is a 300watt vivaspectra sitting about 40 -45cm from the seedlings. The temperature is usually 26-30c. Not sure about humidity and soil ph. The soil is a seedling potting mix. They have never had any nutrients in their life yet. Being in Australia I cannot buy stuff fully designed for these guys, so I'm very unsure what I can do to boost them. If it's not too early.
What are your opinions and suggestions??

To early for Nutes. Just don't over water.
Don't know your Ph? This is a must know.
Not sure about your seedling potting soil, ewww. I would change your medium. Just buy some potting soil that has some perlite or add some. JMHO
Remember, store bought soil most likely have nutes added already. So, no need to nutes for a little while.
You maybe limited to what you can buy for your MJ plant in Australia. No worries mate.
Im sure you have a garden center, hardware store somewhere over there. You can buy some store bought Nutes that will work, not specific for MJ.
Pay attention to the NPK for Veg and Flowering, water soluble nutes.

Thanks for your help! They started out really fast and strong but when the 2nd set of true leaves came through, they both just stopped.

First and foremost let the soil dry completely out before adding anymore water. Like nearly to the point of too dry. Overwatering is the number one issue with seedlings that turn yellow and just sit there. Good luck.

Some swear by PH but as ever I say this is a load of old flange unless you're growing hydroponically, as the other posts suggest, the biggest issue is usually overwatering. Seedlings only need a thimble to get going, really.

First, they aren't "babies". Don't treat them that way. In the case of cannabis, less is more. If you can actually force yourself to pay less attention to them, to stop adding nutes or additives or think too much and add before knowing, you will do less harm than constantly jiggering the mix.

Potting soil mix is fine as long as (1) it isn't miracle grow (Jiffy organic is a good brand) and (b) you add perlite or some other aerator at about a 25% ratio. That's all they will need until they are about 2 weeks old, watering with ph adjusted water when the containers are dry/light.

After that, you can slowly add a good nutrient mix but keep it light. DO NOT FOLLOW the directions on the package. Cut it to about 20% or 25% of the recommended dose to start.

Also, raise your lights. 300w doesn't sound like a lot, but that's almost all I use in a 3x3 tent at full flower. You can and will burn seedlings with that light too close. Put it at the top of the tent and leave it there. Forget the hoo hah about the light needing to be within so many inches/cm's of the plants. hooey. You are better off having them too far away than too close. When you get your grow skills dialed in, then move lights, not before. Note: my lights never leave the top of my tent. I have a variable output driver and turn them down even then when introducing younglings to the tent. They grow into the light and I increase the wattage as they get bigger.

So forget everything the neighbor told you about growing. Forget what the hydro shop told you. Simplify, simplify, your plants live's are being frittered away by details.

Admittedly I do get a bit excited with the watering. I have ebayed a ph kit, hope to get that early next week. I start my holidays this weekend so i am hoping to be more observant with them.
I have not watered them since I created this post the other day and after a dose of actual sunlight today for a good 6 or 7 hours, I think there is some improvement.
The soil still looks damp, so there must have been a lot more water retention than I first thought.
They are hydroponically grown, except for the small times they go outside in the sun. My part of the world is now going into winter, so I think I'll put them under lights permenantly in the next few days.

Are you talking about flood and drain or full root immersion in solution?

They are being grown in a box, but every now and then I put them outside in the sun for a few hours.
I have let them dry out a fair bit in the past day or so. They haven't gotten any worse.

I strongly agree with Greg on light distance I recently learned the hard way my first grow brand new 4ft MaxYield UFO dual exhaust w/ 300W MarsHydro LED upgrade. Burned my little babies to a crisp! Lost one and thank God the other 2 pulled through after a very tough recovery process. First thing I did was raise light fixture as far up as I could. They just got switched to flower mode doing great!

you can buy stuff online and get pretty much anything you need also most gardening centers have coco coir and perlite. stop growing in potting soil or any soil indoors. buy proper hydroponic nutrients and get the idea of growing in soil out of your head.

i see no point in doing anything else if growing inside. if you like slow growing plants deficiency out the ass and bugs go for soil. if you like to pull up weed every 3 month and then go hydro my 2 cents. i know why people like doing no till organic grows but i dont think it belongs inside but i was more making the point you can buy hydro nutrients online

Very much agreed Kipn, to the T. We wound up running out of room in our grow boxes had to stick one of our babies in the woods. Didn't run into any problems for the most part no burning no bugs good color, perky, but growth was SLOW SLOW SLOW SLOW. Extremely slow compared to the hydro tub, if it was grown in our boxes there's no doubt in my mind those buds would be trimmed and curing as we speak. Hasn't even hit halfway through flower cycle in my opinion and should've been there weeks ago. Go Hydro!

The girls today.
So... the one in the black pot received a (light watering of)1/4 mix seasol mix, and has improved in terms of growing. I can see that there are now a 3rd set of true leaves coming through. So I am thinking (maybe) lack of nutrients and overwatering.
The one in the brown pot received no nutrients and was left to essentially dry out. Now she has turned a nice bright green and it seems the redness has 95%disappeared from both of them.
I think I'm on the home stretch with my problems now, what do you guys think?

Looking like they're getting nice and settled in good deal man. When mine were going through that stage into next 2 3 inches of growth they were a light almost neon looking green freaked me out a little at first I had recently dropped my LEDs down a notch only a couple inches closer, a good 4 5 days go by as the plants got taller leaves started faning out getting bigger and dark lush green color started taking over. You should be good to go although I'm only on my second grow, as long as you worry about them all the time you'll be fine lol

Meant to add mine had the same redness thing going on to, also completely disappearing into mid veg. stage
