Californians are the least federally represented state in the Union. This is one way of addressing the problem.

I think they should be able to do what they want as a state. But I have my doubts about it passing. What would the economy of southerner California look like? San Diego and the border taxes going to cover the infrastructure build costs?

I don't know shit about California though, outside of family and friends who have lived there.

It's easy to say you don't need big brother if you live in isolation and sustain yourself on your property. Beyond that, socializing infrastructure and regulating things that are in our best interest (fda, epa, etc) are necessary.

Nobody has ever liked the tax man, and nobody ever will. But it's part of the gig if you want infrastructure and clean water.
