Just an update. Letting the girls grow up as of yesterday. As you can see, the screen is bulging in the middle. I need to pull the shock cord much tighter next time around

Just a quick note on changes made since the grow started:
  • Added filters to the irrigation
  • We've been having an unusual amount of rain here in California. Moved the 30-pint dehumidifier back to the curing room, put a 70-pint Frigidaire in there.
  • Had to add a second humidifier (normally for the curing closet) during the first week to keep 70% RH during the first week

Update. Baby grows up. Still super nice but I've been overwatering/feeding a bit since flower started. Outdoors, this is in very warm months, so I got used to more feeding. Cut back this week, we'll see how they react. Learning curve

How the girls looking in that shed? Bet they looking great now
Yeah, was trying to post last few weeks, but Rollitup's been having lots of issues. Was afraid it was down for good for a moment there!

Anyway, just started flushing last night (Sat) on Day 67 of flower, so will likely harvest next weekend, Day 75-ish. Breeder recommend 65-75 days.

From this morning:

I was originally trying to post this next photo all the way back on Feb 14. Craziest looking cola I've ever seen. Looks the same now except all hairs are red. I'll take some more close ups later in the week now that things seem to be working again around here.

Looking great! Awesome shed.
you ever think about ducting in your A/c, Dehu and hu from the outside? save ya a good amount of work space. Just build some waterproof min. storage areas.
Anyhow, been fun watching this and thanks for sharing!

I'd love that, esp since the dehumidifier pumps out quite a bit of heat. But it is very tight back there in the side yard, and there's no room. I didn't even have a spot to put a mini-split AC if I had wanted to go that route (no need, the portable works great)

Once we harvest next weekend, I am going to turn it around quickly with some pre-vegged "teens" from a local clone shop. I have to go out of town for a while in Jone, and I don't have time to go from seed.

Here's that crazy cola, just took the pic. Never grown anything like this

The flat stem head split is a common genetic deformity in plants. Wish i could remember the name for it. But just walking through my landscape I see two entirely different genus's showing it. Fun to watch!

First harvest this past weekend, and I turned it back around quickly by Tuesday night. We are going on a trip at the end of May, so I bought some pre-vegged "teens" from the local clone store and I'm trying that. Pics:

The scrog right before I started cutting. Notice the front-left plant is all dried out. The dehumidifier was blasting it, and I realized too late. I've set up a deflector to avoid in the future.

Closer look at the back left plant, the best of the 4.

You can see how the structure of the plants was.

Everything went into jars this afternoon

Some full melt (holy smokes, this is good stuff)

NEXT CROP:

Like I said, got some 2-foot "teens" from the local clone store, gonna veg for 10 days and then start flowering. They are all Frywalker, which is just what looked the best of their selection.

I tried to fan them out as much as possible

amazing thread and great work man. really enjoyed watching the process. how did you like those cxb3590's?
Thanks.

Since this my first and only indoor setup, I have nothing to compare the CXB3590s to, but I can tell you this much
  • At the 14" spacing I have, they provide a ton of nice white light
  • They run super cool, so much so you can put your hand right up to them. Because they run so cool, I made the mistake of putting them too close, which the plants did not like (too much light, not too much heat). I keep them 21" above the SCROG now, and it seems like plenty of light.
  • Can't beat the PAR per Watt. Really keeps electric costs down both from direct usage and reduced A/C
  • Overall, very happy with the investment.

Hey Bro,

What kind of spray adhesive did you use to glue the insulfoam to the plastic shed walls? I used 3m Super 77 and the board would not stick to the shed walls. However, I have an older model 7x7 Rubbermaid big max and the walls are not 100% flat and straight. I was almost thinking of getting the washer and bolts and bolting it in. I am also in So Cal and I was really impressed by your journal and it inspired me to make my own out of a 10 year old shed. I am hoping to be done this week. Here is a pic from last week.

Sorry for the late reply; I wound up going to the ER with an allergic reaction to a bug bite. Ouch. :(

Anyway, we had the same problem with adhesive. Best choice is LaPage's Epoxy, but it's a pain and may kill you. We opted to spray adhesive in place and then screw into the walls with cabinet screws. For the 2" insulation we used these boys and they're holding up great:

They were chosen by my buddy Fred who is way into specialty screws. These are a star head, but they come with a drill bit to match

Wow. I love it, what a great job you did. How is the temps doing, are you running your COBs 100%. Does your a/c turn off for periods of time while the lights are on?

Awesome, Yes, I too ended up using screws as well for the insulfoam. I finally finished the insulation on Saturday and on Saturday night I used so many cans of Gap Filler, LOL. Yesterday the Orca Film went up and the intake fan and filter were installed as well. Today I will install the carbon filter and the exhaust fan to run through my 600 watt Cool Tube Reflector Wing and exhaust out of the shed. How are your temperatures doing?? I am also in Socal and was wondering. I think I am going to run my current batch without an AC. I have some girls ready to flower so I plan to run them from 8pm to 8am with tons of airflow running through the shed. If I need to install an ac I will but most the year I won't need it. Anyway, thanks for the advice and I will put up some pics later.

My first grow ..years ago was in a garden/ tin shed excellent place to grow

later removed the crappy roof and installed see thru pvc roofing and a bathroom vent fan

tho I avoid using in winter, and does over heat in summer, fixed by daily opening door ...lol

never thought of using insulation ...lol ..its Russia ..lol

vip: I cut 3x 4 inch holes in the base of the door glued insect mesh over

to reduce the inward leaning walls ..lol

good luck
