Most effective way to keep plants short?

I know I've been posting a lot. I just want to learn as much as possible about this and everyone here is so helpful. I've read up on LST but I'm not entirely sure how it works. Anyone can go into pretty good detail on how it works?

Lst is pretty straight forward...your basically just slowly stretching your plant from the inside out to make it more bushy and give more light to the inside of the plant so you get better yield and more budsites

I have fabric pots. I thought about cutting slits all around the top edge of the pot and using string or yarn to tie the branches towards the outside of the pot. Would that be effective?

Harley is kicking ass with the links lol but here's a better plan bro...you got any long sticks like 8" long or so? And some clothes pins?

So it is the LST method just not so complicated with all the string haha. I like it. I really like the idea of topping then supercropping though
Oh yeah definitely gotta top if you want them small...nothing to that just cut in the right spot and save your cuttings for clones if they're big enough.supercropping helps too...kinda cracks me up all these special words for just helping your plant along

There's actually another way I think it's called HST or high stress training...good if your in a hurry but risky...you basically just bend..wiggle...pull..wiggle...bend...pull..wiggle and weaken the stem til you get it where you want it but gotta take it slow or it will break then you gotta get the tape out....it does work though

Cloning is not an option at least from what I've read. I am growing autoflowering plants

Oh ok well you don't want to top those bro they only grow for a short time, topping means it will take a week away from growth (veg) time to heal up, you just wanna keep bending those ladies down and level out your canopy so your buds are sitting fairly level...maybe look at SOG or SCROG

Ok so topping is a no go.
