Too late for bamboo supports in pots?

Got some leaners on my hand and worried about broken branches as things progress so I was thinking about getting some bamboo stakes and driving them down the sides of my pots. Question is, will I hurt the roots doing this so late? 12 gallon pots and no doubt they are wrapped in roots. Thanks.

Assuming your girls are in otherwise good health, I would use the bamboo stakes at this stage. Good luck the rest of the way.

Its never too late to help hold the girl up.

If your really worried about the roots you can tape the sticks together around to the outside of the pots

Don't run them straight down the side of the pot, I go an inch or two in from the rim of the pot. Not gonna hurt anything either way.

Just don't stick it right at the base of the stalk (Taproot)

Too late. Lol. There was some root crunchin’ going on but they’re still standing so hopefully all good.

If your really worried about the roots you can tape the sticks together around to the outside of the pots

I drilled holes in the rim, stuck the stakes through them and then secured them at the bottom with tie-wraps inserted through 2 small holes.

There was a section of Science Friday {on NPR} talking about how plants respond to their leaves getting ate by bugs. They send an electrical signal to the rest of the plant, and it sends nasty tasting sap to the wounded leaf so the bug will stop eating it.

So, yes they do feel it.

They said what kind of plant it was they studied, but I can't remember. I'm guess all plants do it to some extent. Just that weed is so sticky and smelly, the bugs line up to attack it.
