Quantum Boards Grow

I should be receiving my 260w qb kit tomorrow I got from quantum led off amazon. I plan on putting in a 2x4 cabinet for pollen chucking. I'm stoked to try out led lighting for a change. I just switched my 3x3 flower tent from 400w hps air cooled to 315w cmh horizontal reflector, would go vertical but wasn't sure if it would work in the tent.

I was going to get the 240w qb kit from timber but found this other kit for $299 w/ free shipping. Not sure if there is a significant advantage to the 301 board over the 304 which was the only difference between the 2 kits. Plus the 260w is 2700k and the timber was either 3000k or 3500k.

Should be fun to watch perform, cheers and good growing everyone.

Man you are going to be blown away by the performance of the QBs over standardl hid. I have been running cobs for 3 years and even tried spectrum kings 450 +. The 450 really pulls 533 watts from wall and over priced when I bought mine. I did pull over a lb in 4X4. From lack of heat and efficiency the cobs have been awesome. I'm going to try my new 630 cmh in the winter as it gets too cold in my 5x5 tent. My 10 QBs were shipped today and can't wait to try them. I went with the 3000k and I will probably add some cree 660nm for extra.Wish you the best. Peace

Thank you! I just got the qb's in today so I'm excited to get them mounted and try the light out this weekend so I can fine tune before plants go in. But I still gotta wait till the temps drop a little more in October.

Cheers and Hope your 10 qb build goes as plan too!

Makes me think, its good to have a HID, CMH, and LED light, depending on how much heat you need or don't need. For efficiency, I would think it wouldn't make sense to use a LED running 500 watts, and a heater running 500 watts as well, versus 1000 Watt HPS ? Just wondering if I should sell my HPS or hold on to one or two...

Just... no.

If you need heat that badly, use insulation.

That may be, but LED lights still make heat. Therefore, more insulation is still the better solution.
Obviously it creates heat. But is it enough to get to perfect temps. Are you saying that not a single grower in history has gotten a supplemental space heater of sorts?

Yes, no one in the history of growing has supplemented with space heaters...I am sure that is exactly what he is saying lmfao

So someone is using a space heater? If they are and running LEDS, they should throw a HPS in the room. I hope they are reading this thread.
I ran a space heater in a room with a low ceiling. I'd replaced a 600w hps with 375w of diy led. The 100w space heater provided enough heat without robbing me of ceiling space, frying my plants with to much IR and presenting a hazard to move around. Fuck HPS. So done with that old tech. LM301c diodes or even lm561c's are just better in every aspect.

Yes people are using space heaters. I use one in my garage veg tent during winter. I might not have to if I do 24hour veg tho. I find it hard to believe you need one if you’re growing in your house. But it all depends on where you live. Got to figure out what works best for your situation.

Here we go, I put the larger or more developed plants of each under the 5000k on the right, one Sour Dubb, Chaos and DarlinsNet on each side. I'll take pics of each with a tape measure for a starting point and compare later. Have some panda film and my good bug oasis for a divider.

Hey Cap, I've been quietly watching some of your threads over the years. Great work, thanks for all the fun little experiments.

But I was wondering, did you ended up getting any noticable results from the 5000k vs 4000k comparison? Looking to build a veg light for a friend for his mother plants.

The strains I run are a little lanky so I prefer 5000k in veg to keep the nodes a little closer.
