Chemdog & Blue Cheese 1000w grow

Just to give some specs before I start the grow this weekend. Doing a chemdog and blue cheese mix. One of each to start and then will set up a cloning room as well.

1000 wt HPS/MH w/ dimmable ballast
6” in-line exhaust fan w/ variable speed controller.
Seeds are chem dog and blue cheese femmed
Nutrients are Dutch pro with another bottle of extra calmag
Grow Room will be 6x6x7 will be for veg and flower for now.
8500btu window unit for cooling built into the room.
Various other parts going into it but none worth listing.

I’ll set everything up on Friday and keep updates to once a week probably.

I’m not sure yet honestly. I’ll probably start dimmed firs and monitor amps. I need to be as conservative as possible so I’ll probably only do two plants one of each type for now.

Got the room set up. Changed it up a bit from my original design. Still working on a proper intake but it’s holding temps with lights on and just running exhaust. For beans germing and should be ready to drop in some starter plugs hopefully tmw night. Need to source a carbon filter and some ocilating fans and it’ll be pretty much squared away. Now we wait! Gonna look into getting a RO filter system for the house as well but for now I’ll be using distilled water and adding nuets as I go.

Sites not letting me upload pics but I’ll try again later. Decided to do it in a spare closet. It’s a 2.5x5x6. Lined with 8mm panda film on walls and floor. The two folding doors are lined with panda film as well. Got a couple areas I need to seal a bit more but blocks 99% of the light coming out and going in. Blacked out my bedroom windows as well. I intend on running lights at night and off during the day to help conserve. There’s an air gap at the bottom of the left door that allows plenty of fresh air in but I’m going to run a 4” duct throug the wall and then out the wall under my bed. I’ll put a 4” in-line booster fan to pull in air that way and block off the bottom of the door.

Beans germinated 9/15/18
Used distilled water and paper towel inbetween two paper plates. 1 femmed chemdawg and 1 femmed blue cheese. Hoping taproots show today and I can plant before leaving out of town. Would hate to leave this job to my wife...lol

Well out of the first two one died cause my wife didn’t water it. Planted two more this passed weekend and both have sprouted. Going to do a 3 plant grow. The one from the original start is unknown since my wife didn’t put the sticks back in the soil with the names. The other two I planted just popped up this morning but we’re a little dried out yesterday when I got home. Don’t have to leave home for a few weeks now so hopefully I can save them. They look ok for now. The first one is on its second set of real leaves and was over watered big time. Letting her dry out and keeping the other two moist for today. Here’s a pic of the first one. Not sure if it’s chemdawg or blue cheese though. The other two are clearly marked so once they all start growing more I should be able to tell.

Here’s my grow area. Opted to stay inside the house rather than the garage till things cool down. May end up moving them. I’m bad about pictures but this is before I planted. I’ll take some more of all three this afternoon and upload them.

It’s been HECTIC! Haven’t updated or posted in quite a while but the grows going good so far. Got a few spots I think might be nuet burn and maybe some minor light burn. Made adjustments and they seem ok now. Here’s the deets and some pics of the progress.

THE DEETS!
3 plants all femmed 1 chem dawg, 2 blue cheese
All plants topped once.
Plants will be 6 weeks from sprout this Saturday. On 10/27/18
Light is 750wt MH air cooled at 20” from canopy, about to switch it to 1000wt maybe today or tmw
Soil - FFOF
Nuets - Dutch pro brands -A,B Grow, Take root, calmag, keep it clean.
Water - Distilled, PH between 5.8-6.5. Avg 6.2
Scrog 3.5 x 3.0 screen at 8 inches above soil.
Room - redid the closet a tad and put up panda plastic to expand to a 5.5’ x 5.5’ x 8’
Exhaust - 6” 470cfm vs inline fan
Fresh air Inlets - 6” intake with small desk fan blowing through ducting and another 4” in-line duct booster fan on opposite corner blowing up into the larger fan in the room blowing across canopy.

Lights pushed up to 1000wt now. Maybe that’ll give me some faster growth to fill the scrog. Here is what they look like currently. Just not starting to fill the screen in. Thinking in another 3-4 weeks maybe less I should be close to flipping. And then finish filling scrog with the stretch. Gonna slow up on the nuets for now. Was only half strength and i alternate watering with regular distilled water ph’d to 6.2-6.4 and the. Next watering I was using same distilled water with 1/2 strength nuets but looks like I got some nuet burn on one plant on a few leaves.

Pic as of this morning before lights out. I’ve got some weird growth on some fan leaves and some other areas I’ll take some pics of and post. Not sure what would cause it. Plants seem to be healthy though. Haven’t really done much nuets. So far I’ve been sitting 1 Fallon between the three about every two days and they’ve seemed fine. Any advice is appreciated and noted

Well I had to move my room. Just wasn’t working inside the closet anymore. Spent some time tonight and built a 5x5x7 grow tent out of left over materials and put it in my garage. I cut a window unit into the side and cut my 6” exhaust and 6” fresh air intake. Need to finish the door but it’s functional for now. Decided to remove the scrog for now. Maybe for good. I gave them a bit more LST to open them up and watered with full strength nuets. They just look like they were lacking so hope it takes well. The garage has a built in 20” exhaust fan on a T stat to kick on at 80 to keep garage cooled if needed. All in all he rooms holding nicely. Will need to add a space heater on a tstat for lights out to keep temps constant as well. Here’s a couple pics of the outside and my nuets. I’ll post some of the inside and the plants tmw when I get up.

Got a little time this morning before lights out so gonna wire up my controller and throw some sensors in the tent to record temps so I can see tempnswings more accurate. Gotta program the inputs and outputs into the controller but here's a few pics of the panel before setup.

Essentially it’s an $8000 building controller I’m using for a $300 grow room lol. Over kill but it allows me to keep a close eye on every aspect of the grow providing I have the correct sensors.

Got everything all dialed in finally! Gonna let them veg another couple few weeks to recover from all the moving and adjusting and then flip it. Had all this stuff laying around from doing controls for 11+ years so finally put it to use. I imagine if you had to buy all this it would cost a pretty penny though. This allows me to monitor temps anywhere for the entire cycle which is nice.

Update:
Plants look pretty good and seem to be enjoying their new home. Got some leaf damage on the chem dawg plant though. Got some other flaws but the plants seem healthy. I think I may of just waited a little too long to do full strength nuets. Here’s a couple pics. Curious as to the cause of the damage. Have not seen any bugs or gnats etc. been checking every day. Despite the damage the plants seem ok. Still only watering them 1/3 of a gallon each every other day usually.




I’m thinking another couple weeks in veg then flip? The bottom right plant is blue cheese. Top plant is also blue cheese and the bottom left is chem dawg. All have been topped once and then LST’d back several times. Bottom right blue cheese sprouted 9/14 and the top blue cheese and chem dawg sprouted a week after. So they will be 6/7 weeks on Saturday.

I noticed that the co2 goes up about 90ppm during lights off. And back row to around 405 ppm during lights on. Going to look into making some co2 drippers and see if I can measure an increase in co2 levels in the tent.
